Oh those babies are sooo cute!! Where is the mama? I hope the babies were placed in a good home.
We get raccoons in my neck of the woods and they are not to be messed with. We don't even let our cats out at night because of the raccoons. Big as dogs and mean as hell.
My DS and her hubby are trained racoon rehabilitators and have raised dozens from a few days old til they're fat and mean. They're ksooo adorable when they're little but boy can they be dangerous and destructive when they get older. She quit doing it when bro/sis litter-mates destroyed her garage after opening the lock on their cage. lol
Forgot to say that they perched on BIL's shoulder as he walked around inside the house, played with their house cat, and stayed in the house until they got too big. They were never something I'd volunteer to rehab, but they were interesting to watch DS's family train them to clean their food, fish at the creek, climb trees, etc.
They are so cute at that age. A few years ago, a mother raccoon chose our chimney/fireplace as a den for her babies. At first we thought birds had gotten stuck in the chimney, but then we saw the little hand prints on the glass of the fireplace door. There were four babies, and according to what we researched, it is useless to attempt to kick them out, as the mother will destroy the walls, mortor, etc. to get back to that den. We let nature take its course, and the little family left on July 4th night when there were too many fireworks going off in our neighborhood. I live in fear of them now, as they are well-known for killing chickens. Our coop is built like Fort Knox, but we are still wary of these cute little buggers.
