Alex McCord's book on parenting

NYC Real Housewife, Alex McCord and her hubby Simon have penned a parenting book called Little Kids, Big City: Tales from a Real House in New York City. Alex created some buzz for the book by saying she drank while she was pregnant. She sipped champagne in labor. Shrugs..I ate a bologna and onion sandwich while I was in labor. I'll bet that was more of a regret. They named their first kid Francois. Does anyone want to talk about how much he's going to get his ass kicked in private school?

Why do people with $$$ name their children foolish names? I went to school with harry's winstons, star, precious, lexus, etc. That kids name is as bad as my middle name.

Kiki ;) ;) I say that Simon is gay ! said...

I think he looks like f'g Frankenstein with red hair! He is so strange looking, he'd have to have money or he'd never, ever get a date, seriously. And he does look gay to me. I have seen the show a few times, he may be in the closet. Francious can just be Frankie or Frank, like daddy...Frankenstein!

They are both homely as sin. Too bad their kids will grow up homely too.

I don't think I could watch Simon very long. He looks like a gecko. I keep waiting for his tongue to whip out and grab a fly!

Did anyone see him in his red plastic pants ? HOT

P.S. You are supposedly allowed 1 alcoholic beverage per day while pregnant. A glass of champagne isn't that big of a deal. It's not like she was doing shots of Jaeger.

the champagne thing doesn't bother me...especially in the 3rd trimester an occasional glass of wine or champagne doesn't affect the fetus...

Well, that's news to me. I have never heard that alcohol is okay during pregnancy. It doesn't mean that by doing it, you are guaranteed a problem with your baby, but there is a chance, and who really wants to take that chance? Once you do something like have a drink daily while pregnant, and then have a problem, you can't fix it. Your child is screwed for life (FAS), and the only one to blame is the mother, and her lack of self-control. Not worth the risk, as the medical community looks at it. Frankly, if during a preadmission appointment I found that a mother-to-be was drinking daily, I would try to find out more about why that was happening, and most likely ensure that social services is involved in the care of that family. We can't fix peoples' lives while they are hospitalized, but sometimes we can give them a way to find treatment, or intervene in some way that makes their lives better.

LOL @ DD for the bologna and onion sandwich in labor! Sometimes people do interesting things food-wise. I know someone who insisted on stopping at KFC on the way to the hospital, and she ate a whole bucket. Of course she was puking chicken for much of her labor, but I'm sure it tasted better going down.

whoever posted that it's okay to have one alcoholic drink per day while pregnant is about 20 years out of date.
the current medical stance on alcohol in pregnancy is that there has been no established 'safe' amount to consume, therefore NO alcohol should be had at all.
There have been cases where a woman has had one drink, and unfortunately it was at a crucial stage of development for the fetus and the baby has been born with FAS.
I mean really, how hard is it to go without...it's only for 9 months.

I highly doubt someone had 1 drink one time and their kid had fetal alcohol syndrome.
