Buddy saves his family

That's Buddy..the dog was told by his owner to go get help. His family's home was on fire..fire and rescue and state troopers were on the way, but, they couldn't find the rural address because the house is in an isolated area with trees and winding side roads. The state trooper noticed the dog looking anxious in the road and decided to follow him. You hear about these things all the time, but, this time there's actual video of Buddy leading the rescue. The home was saved and Buddy's family is okay. You can read more and watch it HERE. It brought tears to my eyes thinking how smart this dog is and how much he loved his people. Buddy is a hero.

BUDDY... You are such a special wonderful dog. Such a great story. Animals are the best gifts to anyone. Specially dogs who protect their owners and households.

I hope Buddy gets a special present for his actions.

Animals are so much smarter than we give them credit for.
What a special gem Buddy is. I hope he got some very special treats and lots of hugs and kisses for this.

Go hug your cat. Oh wait..that's right. He moved in with someone else.

It was a she and that cat was probably happier living free than cooped up in my fart-reeking place.

Goosebumps! Goosebumps!!! I love this dog! Sooo smart! & loyal & they always want to help us. I watched this and it gave me a dizzy attack for a bit and I had to take some meds. I just had to watch, makes me almost cry!! Dogs are great!! I never met a better person than a dog!!

Love this video -- truly amazing. Buddy has a lot more on the ball than some people I've encountered on the internet today.

This is a great story. He is so smart and that looked like it was a long run!
Sometimes when I talk to Puppy, he looks at me like he's understanding everything I say. It's amazing. Sometimes I don't know what I mean! I was really against my son getting him because of the stigma that surrounds them. But I can't even think of life without him! He's 85 lbs. of pure love.

Caught the video on the news this morning. Hope Buddy's owners give him a big hug and an extra treat tonight. He is one special pup.

Ok, does this mean all the Lassie shows were real? Lassie really did save Timmy every time he fell down the well?

Un-FUCKING-believable! That brought tears to my eyes. Notice how the dog not only brought rescue to the house but did it all on the road where the car could drive. Was this a German Shepherd? They are known for being extremely smart dogs.

Since we just lost the love of our lives, our Carolina dog, Cassie, after more than 17 years, my husband and I are just numb. We had a proper funeral with viewing and she is now in a beautiful pet cemetery in Falls Church, VA, but we grieve every single day.

There is a wonderful agency here in the DC area called Lost Dog Cafe (org) and we saw a white sheph mix on their site. Get to go see him in person on Saturday and I can't wait to hold another dog and to start giving love to another friend.

Barbara in VA---I'm so sorry you lost your girl, Cassie. It sounds like she must have had a wonderful life. I'm sure she knew she was loved, every minute, of every day.
Good luck with meeting the new doggie. Hope it goes well for you.
