Everyone has their own idea about what Scientology is...including me. It's a cross between wannabe proctology and alien black mail. Here's how I think it started (for real).."Hey, I have an idea, let's say we worship a comic strip character..no, no, make that a really really bad science fiction writer. We'll claim he has..I dunno... vision. And we'll tell everyone they have alien ghosts inside them and we can cure them. Then we find a bunch of fucked up Hollywood hopefuls and we tell them we'll back them and make them huge stars, but, only if they make tapes of their creepiest sexual fantasies. Then we tell them that after they're famous, they have to give us millions and millions or we blow the whistle on 'em. We'll make tons and tons of money! I know this little short guy, calls himself Tom Cruise, what a perv!"
*
Cut to 25 years later: "Man, this is hilarious, Tom Cruise gets off on butt fucking boy scouts with a strap on while dressed up in his sisters old ballet tutu. Have you ever laughed so hard?? David Miscavige sure gives a kick ass party!"
*
I wonder how Tommy Girl is feeling since "church" leader David Miscavige has been accused of using Tom's secret confessions as drunken party entertainment? Too bad, so sad..these two ass wipes can go play their little follow the leader cult game with no sympathy from me. Idiots.

Oh yeah. I was reading all about this last night. I even read that blog from the guy that used to be Tom`s auditor.
TommyGirl is probably pooping in his pants.
Heidi, where'd you find that? I wanna see! Thanks!

All you haters will die in a massive fire generated by the heat of a million closeted homosexuals rubbing their bodies together. Hail Xenu!!!!!
It took me a moment to remember where I found it (TMZ).
The guy`s name is Mark Rathbun.
Here is his blog:
http://markrathbun.wordpress.com/2010/05/07/david-miscavige-violates-tom-cruises-confessional/
Tom Cruise threw away his whole reputation for scientology. He ruined his public image by jumping on Oprah's couch, trashing Brooke Shields, and being rude to Matt Lauer, all in the name of scientology. And they repay him by listening to his confessions and laughing behind his back. I *almost* feel bad for Tom...but not quite! Ha ha!
Bunch of sexual deviants! I think they are all closeted gays. They provide the celeb with the fancy "closet" and the celebs pay out the ass. So, to speak. Yea, I believe they laugh at the films they have, not just of Tom, but he would be in pretty regular rotation. This is so CIA to me. Blackmailing celebs to keep them quiet. Same shit as the CIA has always done.
rox
why do they salute? Are they playing like they are in "Top Gun"? or "A Few Good Men"? Gawd, idiots is right. Saluting? I have never heard of that at a church. Maybe if you bumped into Hitler at church you might feel compelled to salute...ha. So stupid. They are owned.
Anon 6:40 their salutes reminded me of Hitler too! Maybe they are saying "Heil Hubbard!" instead??
Look at the intensity in their eyes! I can believe he'd make them salute his dog. The dog probably has more sense than either one of them. Power hungry little men!
Jane hi there :) that's exactly it they are ph
little men ! The suffer from SMS short male
syndrome and since they oppose psycology
then they bond together with their silly salutations.
The made up military is a farce to the real
men & women who risk their lives for peace on
the front lines. Pullleeeeezzze !!! They all fell out
of the tree of insanity and on the way down they hit
every branch ! What a bunch if malarchy! Kiki :p
i wanna know what the hell kind of stuff tom was 'confessing' too!!!
This guy must be a shrimp if Tom is taller than he is. The way they're looking at each other...you can feel the love.
L. Ron Hubbard has been quoted as saying the easiest way to make a lot of money in america is to start a new religion, (paraphrased) and STILL all these idiots join his church and tithe thousands of dollars in order to move up the chain of command. It's unbelievable.
I am torn. It is sad for anyone who has faith in a religion, to be betrayed. It's just sad and awful, no matter which group or who it is.
I also would really like to know what was on those tapes. Obviously it was pretty good if it was thought of as entertainment.
Can't he sue for this? Not that it would undo the damage, but maybe it would prevent further release of information. Now that we know that people watched those tapes, we know that the information is out there, you just have to find the right person to talk about it.
Did anyone watch the episode of South Park about Scientology? I don't watch SP, but my son told me about it, and it was classic. Absolutely hilarious.

No it is not. Religion does not get a pass. Every philosophy or belief system is subject to the rules of common sense. It DOES matter which group it is. Just ask the victims of 9-11.
If one's happiness means reducing emotional disturbances to a minimum; then marriage and religion need to be excluded.
The secret life of Scientologists is odd. The origins of the cult-religion are even more obscure and laughable than other mainstream religions.
Look at the Berg's little Kabbalah group in California. Those swindlers live in the lap of luxury (like Catholic Cardinals)- and all they do is read Hebrew from "lost" tablets of power. They wrap red string around the tombstone of Rachel and then sell the pieces of string as protection!.
I also read the blog by the former Scientology auditor. I wish he would divulge some of the goodies about the confessional tapes.

Anon 6;29
Yes, it does. If you put your trust or faith in your beliefs, to have them betrayed is sad and wrong. It doesn't matter if it is the Catholic church, the Boy Scouts, 9-ll, Scientology, etc. It is wrong, and those responsible should be dealt with swiftly and severely.
Religion is a snare and a racket, opium for the masses...insert whatever description you want. In my opinion 'god' is a placebo. God helps those who help themselves was 'god's' way of saying you're on your own and religion was just a way for religious leaders' to keep sheeple in fear and in control and exploiting them for their money, resources and the sexual favours of their children.
If you got through a tough situation thinking god intervened on your behalf, you are undermining your own strength and ability to cope and over estimating your importance in some deity's priorities. If there is a god, we do not factor into his/her/its plan in any way except to prove a sad point that humans are screwed up and will always screw up. The gods are laughing at us. The End.
I totally disagree, Frimmy, but obviously you have your beliefs, and I have mine.
Some of us really do feel called to God. I have ever since I can remember, and my family did not attend church on a regular basis. I did, though, on my own.
There are those who choose to masquerade as Christians, using the guise of doing good as camouflage for their evil deeds. They do not reflect the beliefs of the majority of Christians in any way. Neither do the abusers among boy scout leadership reflect on all the kids in scouting, nor the polygamists among Mormons, the snake handlers among Protestants, etc. To generalize about us based on a few who abused their power, or chose to focus on one minute passage from The Bible, or chose to do wrong, when they knew what right is, is incorrect.
The Bible says Judge not lest ye be judged. I will not judge your beliefs. I do choose to judge behavior of celebrites or of others mentioned in passing (such as the old fart who destroyed a sentimentally important snowball bush because he didn't like the petals shedding into his yard), and my MIL's behavior when she does things that are damaging to my family, but that is it. The end.
I look at that photo and wonder where are the tinfoil hats.
I don't know what my next statement will provoke but here goes...
I go to church. I am not a member, but I go. I cook feasts for gatherings and often sing with the worship team when I am not on the soundboard. I also run a little 'course' instructing single parents and old folks how to cook for maximum nutrition on a non-existent budget. However, I am surrounded by people who call themselves Christian but I refuse to refer to myself as the same. The word Christian denotes religion and because religions can be manipulated to suit the user I will never go there. I follow the teachings of Jesus. It ain't easy some days either. Some have asked me what do I mean. I believe that to follow Christ all you really need to do is read Matthew 5,6 and 7. The instructions are there. I don't shout down those who don't believe and I don't claim that everybody else is going to hell. When it gets down to the nitty-gritty, once we draw our final breath and exhale, we will find out just what was right and what was wrong. Okay, my chin is up, take your shots. It's okay.
I should have added that the wrong one could be me. But that is where faith comes in.
My aunt is a roman catholic nun. She is 75 years old. She has served her order doing charity work since she was in her teens. She is true blue and kind to the bone and I have NEVER heard her quote the bible to make a point. She doesn't need to expound upon her beliefs because she lives them. She feels no need to convince others who don't believe as she does that they are misguided.
The end.
Yep that was my opinion, I hope I made that clear. It's presumptuous to believe that those who do not share your beliefs are "misguided". A person would have no justification to correct anyone who doesn't believe as they do. There is only that which you believe and that which I believe. I don't 'get' religious devotion but, like a placebo, I wouldn't attempt to undermine someone's faith if it works for them. I just don't see it the same way and sure don't feel it. I find zealots laughable . Zealots come in all colours, however, not just religious ones. Political zealots, Amway zealots, vegan zealots...
Exactly Frimmy, and atheist zealots too! lol. I say to each his own as well.
Right now the state of Wisconsin should be trying to subpoeana the pope to testify in the criminal case involving the molestation of dozens of boys at a school for the deaf years ago. But they will not, because the pope is swaddled in religion. Literally! With his fancy dresses and pointy hats. You really couldn't make this stuff up if you tried!
It's wrong. It's all kinds of wrong. And even though on the surface it seems so funny, when so many are hurt from it. It's just wrong.
Thats why folks like us need to stay vigilent on the blogs, and set the sheeple straight! haha!
Oh, I believe there is a god. In fact I think, personally, it's arrogant to believe there is no god. It's a big universe out there. I don't believe we are significant to him/her/it in any way other than whatever purpose we serve in the carrying out of its objectives.
Ah yes...the pope...it's exactly assholes like him and what he and his kind have allowed, condoned and covered up through the centuries that cause people like me to have such disregard for organized religion. that and the crusades... inquisition... Hitler... Rwanda...
The dauntingly intelligent Ian Anderson wrote this song way back in 1971 or so. Basically his disgust and distrust of organized religion. I have seen Jethro Tull 30 times, literally, and whenever this tune gets played, it ROCKS. Something to think about:
MY GOD
People -- what have you done --
locked Him in His golden cage.
Made Him bend to your religion --
Him resurrected from the grave.
He is the god of nothing --
if that's all that you can see.
You are the god of everything --
He's inside you and me.
So lean upon Him gently
and don't call on Him to save you
from your social graces
and the sins you used to waive.
The bloody Church of England --
in chains of history --
requests your earthly presence at
the vicarage for tea.
And the graven image you-know-who --
with His plastic crucifix --
he's got him fixed --
confuses me as to who and where and why --
as to how he gets his kicks.
Confessing to the endless sin --
the endless whining sounds.
You'll be praying till next Thursday to
all the gods that you can count.
I think I have a lot in common with you, Camper. The difference is that I recognize my faith as part of a religion, but my devotion, I believe, is very similar. I don't regularly attend church at this point, though my devotion to my faith is the same as it was. I just see the human feet of clay, and wish for a purer experience than I can get in my parish. I probably pray many more times a day than when I attended regularly.
As for the idea that God is not concerned with us, Frimmy, my own belief is that He is. As far as defining what God does or does not do or care about, it is my belief that with our puny human brains, we are simply incapable of truly comprehending Him. He is more than we can define or understand.
I would never relate your beliefs to a placebo but believe that everyone must choose for themselves.
(By the way, both my niece and nephew, and my husband's second cousins were all sexually abused as children. None of them were abused by "Christians" or "Catholics". The current scandal in the Portland area is the connection between the Mormon church, boy scouts and sexual abuse, if anyone wants to know.)
While I'm at it, I have to ask. . . why is it that when a woman cries "rape!" we need to see semen on her or in her panties, and see evidence of force, even better yet, real injuries, but when a guy says he was molested twenty or thirty years ago, and there is little to no proof, we all assume he is right? Maybe I'm missing something, but it doesn't seem right.
oo buying that one for my ipod! ty so much =)
You know what they say about discussing religion and politics, but I'm glad we have a place to agree to disagree and still remain friends.
Now, here's something to think about. If someone who admits to being an atheist is on trial or is a witness, would they be expected to put their hand on a Bible? Does anyone know the protocol?
I don't think I've ever seen the situation come up before. If I remember right, Madeline Murrey O'Hare (sp?) was on trial at one time, or maybe she was a witness in a trial. But I can't recall the info about that. HELP!!!
Perhaps, Christina, perhaps.
But when I consider organised Christianity I think of, amoung others, Patrick Hamilton, burned at the stake in 1527 Scotland for believing that the Bible and not the edicts of the established church held the true foundation of the Christian faith. John Bradford burned at the stake in 1535 England. Thomas Hudson burned at the stake in 1558, and William Tyndale, executed in 1536 for translating the Bible to English. Or how in 1519 seven Christians were burned at the stake in Coventry, England for having the temerity to teach their children to memorize the Lord's Prayer and the Ten Commandments in English. And then I think of the Crusades, which had less to do with the Kingdom of Christ than it did with greed and conquest. Or the Inquisition. Or the Witch Hunts.
How can so many different splintered religions all claim Christianity as their basis? They can't all be right. Therefore, I stand by my belief that they are all wrong. I have heard or read no indication anywhere that Jesus Christ thought in shades of grey. He certainly did not promote violence of any kind as a method of spreading the Good News. His words are in the Book and not open to self-serving interpretation or bastardisation.
So, I read the Beatitudes. Actually I like to call it the Be Attitudes. Straight from His mouth. I refuse to be a sheep. I prefer to live for the Lamb. You know something? There are people in the church I attend who can't stand me. You know why? Because I refuse to join the club and I have no problem expressing my reasons. I am thankful that I live now and not 500 years ago. I would likely be charcoal right about now.
Bayou:
Up here in Canada there is the option of using the Bible or not. Ultimately, a promise to tell the truth is a promise to tell the truth.
I like to believe that what religion calls "god" is nature, the universe, the life force, and in a VERY few instances, a goodness and a selflessness that manifests itself in a person like JC.
I don't think we can comprehend it. I know I can't, and I am suspicious of those who say they can.
Jane,
I found this on wikianswers.com:
Atheists who are open about their world views regarding faith or religion normally make an affirmation, which has the same force in law as an oath. If an atheist chose to take an oath, without revealing his or her beliefs, then the oath would be binding in law.
Many jurisdictions in the United States provide alternate wordings, procedures, and/or documents for atheists who are placed in the position of "having to swear an oath" in legal proceedings. Similar considerations are made for other faith groups that do not use a Bible as their scriptural reference or for Christians in such sects that are prohibited from swearing oaths as the Dutch Reformed Church or the Quakers, as the Society of Friends is also called. When Herbert Hoover, who belonged to this last sect, was "sworn" in as the 31st President of the United States, for example, he took an affirmation.
These alternate wordings, procedures, and/or documents exist because of the fact that many of the Framers of the Constitution were themselves "Deists," who did not hold with many of the teachings of the other religions of their day.
I was wondering where everybody was today ?
Now i've found you all lost in the land of xenu.
Oh my heavens don't those two lil twerps look
a sight in that pic ?! It's like they are trying to
penetrate each others souls with the intent laser
like locked eye contact ! That pic was taken at
the FLAG convention @ the sea org down in
Clearwater Florida. It's very off- putting to say
the least. I don't know how anyone with a
modicome of intelligence could believe in this ?!
Fortunately for myself I can say I know better. When
I was in my second year @ UofT I was downtown
with my gfs on Yonge st in Toronto and we'd just
seen a movie. As we came out of the theatre a
few sino recruiters asked us I'd we'd like a free
personality test. My funny :) gf said that we have
enough tests at uni so no thanks and laughed as we
walked away. Only to find the man run after us with
some books in his hand offering to give us all free
copies of Dianetics. Now I was annoyed at his persistence
and told him to stop bothering us ! Get lost ! It's only
the next morning when I was reading the Saturday star
that I noticed an article of a cult like newage church
opened up in dt to on yonge st and was recruiting
unsuspecting citizens with lures of free personality
tests and a free scifi novel. I wished I had smacked
him upside his head after reading that but even then
as unaware of the evils of this group/ cult in it's
early days in Canada we knew then it was a con.
Something just didn't seem right about them how eager
the fellow who ran after us was ? I still wish I'd
had slapped him. Who knows he may have snapped
out of his trance like state. I shudder to think where
he us now. Hopefully he is out of the org. - Kiki :|
Interesting reads all the way through. Good to see anon camper back.
I'm reading St Augustine's Confessions right now. He talks about the disaster that was the Greek and Latin text used to translate The Bible. He himself scoffed at the text and doubted his faith.
frimmy; some people are strong enough physically to withstand great difficulty, but when one's troubles take the form of sickness, bullets, or a desperate plea; even the strongest kneel and beg for respite from their (our) pain.
It makes no difference to me and I would never try to convert anyone. Atheist claims have substance and may be rooted in science, but I like to think of the afterlife being more than a place where souls meet to party.

Anyone ever watch the Australian show "John Safran vs God"?-- great comedy, you'll find on you tube.

Enrique no sorry, I've never heard

Does anyone here watch Lost ? -Kiki :)
Welcome back anon camper.
Which province are u in ? -Kiki :)
That last title got cut off it should have read
....can you help me brother as Desmond Hume
would ask ? After watching Lost last night I've
been wondering about Desmonds fate. Is he
still with us. Was he able to get through to said?
I hope so after said met his demise in the
submarine last week. -Kiki :)

Kiki:
Ontario. I try not to think about that though.
On another front....I have just heard that Fox News has branded Mr Rogers evil and blame him for the sense of entitlement that kids have today. Could not believe my ears. That man helped me through a hellish childhood, helped teach me compassion and gentleness and inclusiveness. Not only that but he took me on many trips to really cool places. Is there no end to the insanity in American news? No wonder I get my info from BBC World .
Hi Jarhead,
That statement about Augustine's problem with translation reminded me of this story:
The Church decided that it would be a great idea to re-translate the Bible and gave the task to their most talented scholar. He cloistered himself away and was not seen for several days. Suddenly there was the sound of hysterical screaming and crying from his chamber. When the concerned and frightened priests burst into the room they found him on his knees in a puddle of tears. 'Brother! What is it???' He looked at them with a wretched face and screamed..
'The word is CELEBRATE!!!'.
Anon camper
I'm in Ontario too.
I wouldn't listen to them either. I don't think
Mr. Rogers is to blame for anything. He was
a kind teacher and had an impact on many
including myself. I don't blame you for following
the BBC I find them less biased on their slants
in certain newstories. No need to cloud the issues
with rhetoric and hidden political agendas. Besides
that I also enjoy the CBC for news radio and
Coranation street of course.
It's been too cold & rainy to even atempt going up to the cottage and open up the season as of yet here in Toronto.
Lake Rosseau will have to wait until the may 24 long
weekend as this coming weeks end looks damp as well.
Always so much to do when we get up there. A
list of little things soon add up to several trips into
town to make ammends to the dock & such. As
you can appreciate it being a Canadian tradition
et al. I find I go up there to do nothing and yet
have not managed to at all. Opening up the cottage
is too much some years are better than others hope
this season does not hold any surprises of the
unkind variety when we go up in two weeks. Kiki :)
I like to think of the afterlife being more than a place where souls meet to party.

Jarhead,stfu.
Anon don't be so rude ! Kiki :/
Enrique :) hi are you going to read all 13
volumes written in latin ? Or a translated
to English and consolidated version ?
Wether the here after is a great big party
shouldn't preoccupy all of the time we have
here on earth. That is what matters most to
me the here and now and Enrique you know
all to well how I always end my letters with
" enjoy life ! " It is just beautiful to be here !
Don't you agree my friend ? - Kiki :)
Anon camper how many kilometers away are you
from the city (Toronto) ? If I may ask. -Kiki :)
Kiki:
Not far enough. About 30 or so. Lived in Toronto for a few years when I worked engineering at the Four Seasons Hotel. Lived just off Avenue Road south of the 401. You know, the land of the Jonses. So many people thinking they are elite when they drive the same cars (BMW), live in the same stucco monstrosities, have the same plastic surgeon and all wear the same pre-distressed jeans. Hated that place, no offense.
Moved back to Peel so that we are closer to my grandchildren. They need their Grumpy. I need them. Life is great. I think.
kiki,
I am reading the English translation (Oxford)--
Someone is using my name here to post, so you all know it's not me.
Real Jarhead
Anon camper yes tell me about it I'm a
newcomer to that land you left behind.
I grew up in poverty in the Christie pits
of the city. My older neighbours have
finally stopped staring at me drive my own
car. It's been an adjustment for them poor
( pun intended) dears. At least they don't think
I'm part of the non existint staff. Imagine doing
your own gardening ! How dare I ?! -Kiki :)
Jarhead imitation is a form of flattery but why
not use your real name Enrique ? -Kiki :)
Life is great anon camper like I said earlier
this morning. It's just beautiful to be here !
-Kiki :)
Kiki:
You got it. The rain is great. We live within 20 feet of a thickly wooded ravine with stream and all and the scents that come out of there are heady. Was walking the dog just before dawn this morning and caught sight of a young buck and accidentally flushed out a few rabbits. People never notice these things anymore and I pity them. The world does not end at the end of the nose. I love my days off. Wow, what a sap.
