Friendly atrocity

In their rush to keep up with the bigger fat pushing fast food giants, Friendly's introduces this thing. The buns have been replaced by two grilled cheese sandwiches. Gag. I couldn't even eat a third of that thing on my best day now, but, when I was young and skinny I could have scarfed two of these, WITH fries. People should eat whatever they want, we're all gonna die anyway.
Cheerful, that's my middle name.

Yeah we're all gonna die but, while we're alive, it's nice to be able to go up and down stairs without wheezing. I'm glad I figured that out and quit scarfing that kind of stuff.

You did seriously???? That shocks me. Good for you though. I just have a hard time eating anything anymore. Eating is no fun.

CJ said...

It would take me three days to eat that much food.

Agree with you, eating is boring. Only eat because the body needs a certain amount of food. If I could figure out a way not to eat, I'd be happy.

I get you. Meds have killed my appetite, yet, I'm still diabetic and have to eat. Cooking when you aren't hungry is annoying. I cheat all the time. A tablespoon of cottage cheese and a cracker with the salt picked off is a meal.

Hah remember that kfc burger where the
buns were made of chicken cutlets ?!?!
Maybe they should serve it with a side
of triple bypass ?! Just ridick ain't it.

If I could never eat / cook / shop/ and wash
dishes/ ever again I'd love it.
Only to drink ice water with a slice of lime !
Ahhhh the luxury of not having to eat ...

I had donuts on my birthday and I felt like a had a bucket of sand in my stomach. I figured out what foods work well for me and what to stay away from.

Also, after reading "Born to Run" I changed the way I eat and feel I have more energy than when I ate carelessly.

I'd split that thing with 2 people though.

Lately, no matter what I eat, even if it's a small amount, it acts like a sleeping pill and all I want to do is fall asleep. I mean I literally cannot keep my eyes open. It's getting to where I try to avoid eating.

When I was about 16 and my husband and I were dating, We could go to White Castle and I could eat about 8 sliders with fries and a coke. Now I'm lucky if I can choke down 2.

My son bought one of those KFC sandwiches. I took a bite and instantly felt like I wanted to gag.

Just looking at that sandwich makes me want to hurl.

There are certain things I cannot eat anymore or I will wake up feeling like I am going to vomit in the middle of the night.
So I avoid those things and life is better.
Pat, Oldest and I harvested THE BIGGEST fucking heirloom tomato. It is one of those ones that are green with lite green stripes. It is not all the way ripe yet but I was afraid it would split. It is a monstrosity but it is gonna taste really good. I will show pic later.

I actually enjoy cooking. I hate the washing dishes part. I hate washing dirty pots the most!

I had the most disgusting sandwich ever last saturday in Seattle while waiting for the naked bike ride at the solstice parade. I ordered a montecristo sandwich, thinking it would be good. I like eggs and bread, ham, turkey and swiss, so I thought cool. The egg batter had sugar and nutmeg, which was overkill, and the swiss cheese was the kind of cheez whiz they use at arby's for their melts. It was gross. If at least they had used real swiss. The sandwich cost me 10 bucks alone. I couldn't finish that thing, yuck. What a ripoff. After having that bad experience I looked through montecristo recipes and NONE have sugar and nutmeg in the batter.

But then sunday we made up for saturday's lunch disaster, and had the BEST pulled pork BBQ sandwiches EVAH! At the Ranch House BBQ if you are ever in Olympia, you GOT to go there. They are an award winning BBQ house, and the owners have been featured on the Food Network. Damn that was good.

I would love to see a picture of that tomato!!! I will be lucky if I get anything planted this year. Nothing has been tilled yet and I can't handle that tiller. Oh well, I'll get a vicarious thrill from seeing that heirloom.
Just recently I thought about it, and realized I hardly ever cook anymore. My husband, son and I all like different things, and it is hard to coordinate schedules. They each have a list of things they don't like, so lately it has been eating out or grabbing a Costco chicken, etc. I don't even feel the urge to cook. I used to bake bread, bread pudding, make dinner every night, keep different home-made salads (Chicken, tuna, egg, etc.) in the fridge, at least two at a time for sandwiches on the go, but not any more. Maybe part of it is that my husband is still off on medical leave---he is detoxing from Pristiq---an anti-depressant, and is constantly dizzy, etc. He also still has diverticulitis and is being treated for that, so he doesn't have a lot of appetite. I did fix home-made egg mcmuffins this morning, but only for my husband and I.

I have to admit that I have a guilty food pleasure lately. Normally I never eat at McDonald's, but they happened to be the closest, easiest place to go from a wrecking yard my husband and I visited a month or so, ago. I love their Angus, mushroom and swiss burger. It is soooo good, but when I have that, I can't have anything with it, and am pretty much done eating for the day.
Right now I'm craving a Taco Bell Margarita (slushie, icee, whatever their name for it is). I can't remember what they call it, but I love those.

taco bell sells margaritas??!?!?!?!??!

remember the greasy burger using krispy kreme donuts as a bun??

I agree, people should eat whatever they want. But I think companies should have to make full disclosures about their ingredients and process methods, etc. so we can make informed decisions.

That sandwich is OBSCENE.
We tried the KFC double down when it first came out and it was actually bad. It was dry and flavorless; and really difficult to eat. You need a knife and fork or your hands are a greasy mess. The KFC doubledown is disgusting, but that monstrosity at Friendly's is actually pissing me off!
Our culture is doomed.

Alison said...

That is NASTY. Of course, I hate grilled cheese anyway.

I like some fast food but not much-I don't eat red meat or fish, so my options are somewhat limited. I like the veggie burger at Burger King okay.

My real downfall is chocolate. I would rather have chocolate than any fast food in the world. My favorite thing is chocolate with peanut butter. I have a heart condition and am supposed to stay away from caffeine, so I don't drink coffee or Coke or Pepsi, but I cannot stay away from chcolate!

totally OT....but someone kept turning on my wii today.....i'd go in the bedroom and it'd be on! the remote had nothing near it to have turned it on, and nothing was by the console to turn it on....there's no critters in my bedroom either....after about the 5th time of turning it off, i said "look, this is fun and all but i am not feeling well [vertigo], can we play this another day please?" that was around noon today and it hasn't come back on since! i did thank them for giving me a break....

had to share that! :)

i will send a pic of the tomato to pat in the morning.

oh yeah..taco smell frozen limeade or cherry limeade. I like the straight up limeade.

My wish is for a Sonic. we do not have Sonic up north. I want it just for the drinks alone.

Do any of you have a Rita`s frozen custard store? Ritacchinos are so bad and so good.

Meissa...now that is something you will not see at Mardi Gras---unless you're on Bourbon St.
Those bike seats must hurt after a while.

There is a coffee house not far from me that makes the best eggplant pannini I've ever eaten. It is so good it makes you want to slap your mama. And I have to admit that I really enjoy the food we have here. I'm going to miss not having shrimp like we used to. I also like a good steak once in a while. I know that's not PC, but it is what it is! There are very few foods that I will not eat. And now I have discovered Nutella and I can understand why everyone likes it. But something like that KFC sandwich and the one posted, I would have to dismantle it and eat it separately through the day.

It's starting to rain again. I'm growing web feet. Haven't picked a tomato yet---they split and rot. The thunder is making the house rock so I'd better go get the candles ready!

Taco Bell does have alcohol-free Margaritas. Blended with ice so they're slushy. I'm having one now as my craving was just too strong, and I only got one day off and have to work tomorrow. Bummer. This was supposed to be my three day stretch off, and I traded days with someone who called and said "I bought (plane) tickets to Colorado, and now I'm working on getting those days off. I hate trading days, but it's not a bad idea to do a favor when you can, so I am. Dang it.

Miss Tia...sorry to hear you're still having trouble with vertigo. How long does it usually last?

Bill said...

Mushroom Burger oh yea! Love them. But skip the fries. I just cant eat much fried foods anymore. I know I am old because the wife and I take a few Beanos before dinner (not beanies anymore) then its acid pills and gas pills on top of that. Now in my older middle age even fucking vegitables will bloat me out. What the hell! I still like food but its a pain in the ass.

PS DD glad you are back. I dont post often but always read.

I tried the sandwich (if you wanna call it that) from KFC. It was ok, but I wouldn't get it again. The cheese sauce was not what I would have put on it....I didn't like the taste of it. It's not as big as the commercial makes it look either. I figure most people are going to eat two pieces of chicken if they got a bucket anyway, two scraggly pieces of pseudo-bacon can't make that much difference.

my doctor once suggested vestibular therapy and i said no no NO! a friend of mine also gets vertigo like me due to congestion, she went to vestibular therapy and it immediately made her throw up (the dr. said that happened all the time) and then she got vertigo so bad she was bedridden for 2 weeks!!! the dr. said that also was normal! she never went again.....i don't blame her....

vestibular therapy wouldn't deal with my congestion, which is what triggers my vertigo....also a touch of stress too...

i'll just take it easy a few days with meclinzine [sic], benadryl and my RX water pills!

DD JL is not the type of guy who you hear

don't seem to be liars. I love both of the
London twins. Hey anything can happen
anytime , anywhere and with anyone!!!

DD can you please tell us the rest of the
Andrew story( digging the pool by hand in
AZ and you hit the buried bomb shelter) I
think that's where you left off. I keep thinking
about what you said that Andrew is a good
guy. I love the way you write. -Kiki :)

It makes me sick the amount of morbidly obese people out there. Especially the kids. Fat mama, fat kid. I saw a kid at the pool yesterday, not more than 6 years old. Had to be 100 pounds easy with his fat ole mama. Everyone just looks. It aint the kids fault. It is her fault.

And I work in health care, and there damn insurance premiums better be higher than mine. They wonder why their knees hurt and their back hurts, and they got type 2 diabetes. How's this for your list Tia?

Fat People Suck

And I am not talking about a size 12 curvy woman either.

People eat that shit, and we gotta look at their fat asses!
