Lucky dog! He was returned to his owner unharmed. The dog house was never found. I liked this story. It's tornado season here too, and I woke up in one the other night. It's not worth a separate post, but, once you hear one, you know. When a funnel drops on you, you'll never forget the sound and there's nothing like it. I woke up, the power had gone out and I heard the freight train noise right on me. You can't describe it. There was no siren. I grabbed the dog and shoved him under the pillows and said "This is it." By some miracle, it went right back up and only took half the ancient walnut tree and some of my crummy roof. I felt pretty lucky too.

Lucky dog. Ive never seen a twister. We are pretty protected by the hills around here. I can imagine its a pretty scary experience.
My first tornado happened when I was 9, and in school. My classroom was on an outside wall and wouldn't you know it? I was sitting in the desk closest to it the windows. Outside there was a large playing field and I remember we heard the freight train sound, I turned around and saw it coming across that field! It was awesome & horrible. I was the last kid out into the hall, and the wall of glass imploded before I got out. Only had a head full of glass---the school was ruined and stayed empty for 10 years after that. This was in '75, and we were in McComb MS---Hurricane Camille was coming through and this was only one of the tornadoes it spawned. Never forget your first one, eh?
Oh..He looks like our first dog Pokey. She was such a good and smart dog.
I miss her.
Glad he survived. Bet you could watch him and KNOW when another storm is coming.
Aw poor frightened little guy. Yep, the train sound & the sky, that bizarre greenish tinge it can get.
I couldn't see it. I couldn't see far enough to find the flashlight I left on the end table. Dark as the inside of a cow. But, man, it was loud.
Never been in a tornado. Hurricanes in Florida, but no tornado. Scary as baboons I bet. ha.
That dog has the look of apprehension. When people get shot at for the first time (or too many times) that is the look they get.
Jarhead
He does look afraid. Poor little guy. I am glad they were able to reunite him with his owner.
We almost never get tornadoes here, but in the last few years, we have had a couple. No-one ever told me about the bizarre green light before one happens. I really appreciate Can't See Sheep mentioning that color change. I thought it was bizarre that no-one else seemed to notice it. I was starting to think it was me. . .
