Me..Many people have reported incidents of odd flower blooms when a loved one passed and this is one of them. There is no way a Glad would live through the Winter in the midwest. Not even in a sheltered spot. And you couldn't plant one by mistake, the bulbs are too big. I think it's sweet that your neighbor still thinks of you, Tia. And it's red, so you know it's her. Awww.

I love hearing about peoples spirts coming back in a form. To tell their friends family and loved ones they are alright. Its such a slice of peace of mind. Avas mommy

Thats beautiful. I once planted glads. I was told they would flouyrish and come back in droves. Never happened. I live in Indiana. You are in northern Ohio. Pretty hard to say that was always there or an accident. It was done by someone for a reason. I love it. If it comes back from year to year, then you indeed have a magic glad!

uh, rox, it wasn't always there, so that is easy to say....i had a rose bush there that died and i pulled it up and planted morning glories.....
glads don't survive harsh winters unless you have them in a sheltered area....this is up front and would get the full brunt of the snow/wind/etc....
i think it'll be flowering on the lower part today!!! can't wait to go look!!! her sister think it's her way of telling everyone she is alright.....i agree.....
and i have lived here 5 years and never ever planted glads! they don't spread via seeds in the air either....
I usually refer to those volunteers as "bird crap plantings", and that isn't going to happen with Glads.
miss tia ~ would you like a/ some Virburnum (Viburnum plicatum Mariesii B) volunteers? I have close to a dozen bird crap ones, about 2-3 ft tall. Beautiful clumps of white flowers down each branch in late spring/ early summer. Then in mid summer, where the flowers were it becomes clumps of bright red berries.
I've replanted some, given some away. Really don't want to cut out the others.

i decided tomorrow when it's almost fully blooming, i'm gonna tie it to a balloon with a note thanking her for this gift....another neighbor is going to include a note too....

I checked the viburnum this morning. Thinking maybe I could cut off some of the berry clumps and let them dry for seeds. No such luck, the birds have eaten all the berries. So... it will have to be baby shrubs or nothing :)
i don't see why you need to stop commenting, rox!!! i do always seem to misunderstand you, but it always gets cleared up!
