That's the McHula burger. Invented by Ray Kroc, then McDonalds owner, back in the 60's. He wanted something to sell to people who didn't eat meat on Friday. It was a piece of pineapple with cheese on a bun. Ray didn't understand that meatless people could eat fish, I guess. I read about it HERE, along with other famous McFails.*
When I went to find a photo of the disgusting thing, I found another McFailure site, with photos. HERE.
So, what's the worst thing you ever ordered or were served at McDs?

McRibb that thing taste like crap.
Eric does this thing called McGangBang. 2 cheese burgers and the spicy chicken all put together YUCK.
i was gonna say when i still ate at mcdonalds, more than 15+ years ago, probably 20....mcribb...nasty....
Whoa. That looks like something you need a couple of courses of antibiotics for.
McRibs are indeed odd. I think they should make the sauce a beverage and dispence with the "rib."
Grossest thing that happens to me at McDonald's is when some teenager is working the drive thru and they've soaked themselves down with some smelly body spray and the smell gets on my food and my breakfast orange juice tastes like it.
Thanks for the links! Really neat, esp. the second one.
I remember McPizza. It wasn't so bad when it was brand new, but they got sloppier and sloppier with it...by the time it was pulled from the product line it tasted like soggy cardboard. They used to have "All you can eat McPizza night" at the McDonald's in my town, but they had to stop because so many people would just sit there for hours and eat and eat. Yuck.
One thing I miss is the chicken flatbread they used to have at McDonald's. It was really good and didn't taste like greasy fast food at all. Which is probably why it didn't catch on.
You should get a job at McD's McBitch. Your teeth are so fucking yellow you might fit in nicely.
I actually really liked the McLean. Now that I have found out it contained less beef than the regular "patty" it makes sense cause I don't care for the taste of their hamburgers all that much. I wish they would serve a veggie burger. The filet o fish is so greasy!
I had the sweet tea recently and it was bland--not a lot of tea flavor.
Otherwise, the worst thing about McDonalds lately for me is that the fries have an icky aftertaste. blech.
I miss the fries of yore. Cooked in old fashioned beef tallow.
I shouldn't have said that. I just got promoted to shift manager.
Aim high, Bethy.
Thank you. It took me 14 years to reach shift manager. They prefer to promote the teenagers into management and not middle aged single mothers like me. I worked my butt off and they finally had no choice but to promote me.
Tia, your pictures on your blog look
dumb. Posing with people you don't know. An annoying, teenagerish, crazy assed move. You really look
gross! Do you brush your teeth, ever? Or is that part of your ghetto routine? And what the hell deformity is on your left ear? Ewww.
yeah, posing with famous people is dumb....jealous much?
since you care so much, i brush my teeth 3 times a day and i have never ever had a cavity....bet you can't say that eh???
the only deformity i have in my life is my intolerance to trolls....
congrats on your promotion to management at mcd's bethycunt!
I am jealous but you don't have to call me the c-word. That is uncalled for. I troll without swearing.
McRib was gross. The sauce tasted like ketchup. Weird. I liked the McLean. Don't care if it was made with seaweed, I think their shakes are too. Seaweed don't bother me. I also liked the McDLT. The Arch Deluxe was the only other burger that I really liked. We eat at the one by the mall every month or 2 now and get double cheeseburgers. Isn't it funny how your tastes change as you get older? When I was a kid I could eat there every day. Now once a month is about right.
My teeth are perfect and white because I have dentures. All my teeth rotted out and got pulled.
Tonya I liked the the McDLT too. I thought it was a great idea, and because they were focusing on them, the veggies were usually fresher.
I also hate when I get a craving for a big mac or 1/4 pounder with cheese and then it is NOTHING at all like I remember. Just a pile of mushy salty mess. It is such a BUMMER!
Now my customers like me even more! I get paid a whole dollar more if I take out my dentures beforehand!
But they still want me to have a bag over my face.
Thank God they fill the bag with gravy first!
Gravy is also a good lube, isn't it Bethy?
Oh, you mean I wasn't supposed to be drinking the gravy?
The men heard me gargling on gravy and they thought I was gargling their man juice.
And once again, got the best of Tia!
BWAHHHHAAAA!!!
Tia-HANDS ON HIPS..."I brush my teeth 3 times a day" WAAAA, pouty face
o rly? you with the fake teeth think you got the best of me?
you're really silly....
but keep working your way up the chain at mickey d's! good for you!!!
I like pineapple and cheese together. But, is that ketchup? Yuck!
back in 2002 or 2003 in central Indiana mcD's experimented with some remodels of some of their restaurants & renamed them a McDiner. We had one right here in our town. it was pretty successful and the food was good. Turkey and stuffing, mashed poatatoes, things like that. We liked it and it was good. They came to the table & took your order. it was designed very nice. We ate there often and the prices were good. They lasted about 2 years and the experiment was never made permanent. Even tho you could still get all the old menu items as well. It was pretty cool. Anybody else have one tried out near them? We missed it when they went back to being a reg McD's.
And PS-I LOOOVE pineapple on a Hawaiian pizza, so saying pineapple with cheese sux is wrong. White cheese & BBQ are great with it and chicken. Yum!
rox
I prefer Burger King myself, but I can tell you Mcd's best and worst here in the Pacific Northwest is the Big N Tasty ( a variant of the McDLT). When it first came out 4/5 years ago it was a yummy burger that could compete with Red Robin, and the power ingredient in that burger was the real Tillamook cheddar cheese. Eventually they did away with the cheddar and went back to that yucky piece of melted yellow plastic called american cheese, and the burger went downhill from there.
they did have a decent chicken club sandwich. Oh and I looooooooove pineapple in my burger.....Red Robin's Banzai burger is awesome, it has two slices of grilled pineapple and the burger is basted with teriyaki sauce, it's heavenly.
meissa-that banzai burger sounds good! we have red robin here but have never been.
The only way I'll eat pizza - and I only eat it if there is absolutely no other choice - is if it has pineapple on it. So pineapple on a burger sounds good to me. Pineapple instead of a burger doesn't sound good at all.
I'm with CatsPaw on this one. I caught up with your blog via my phone so the pic was really small and I thought it was a specimen from a medical encyclopedia.
I enjoyed the link a lot. Coming from the eastern Canada I was very familiar with the McLobster and it wasn't half bad although a bit expensive. Lobster sandwiches were common fare among fishing families and my MIL's were excellent. So MacDonald's having one on the menu didn't register at all on our 'odd' radar.
