Show and tell

Stupid show and tell. Lissa says it's her turn to bring a toy for show and tell. I said, everyone has toys, everyone knows what a toy is. That's not what show and tell is for. I told her to pick something interesting and unique. She searches my house for show and tell items. Any random item she wants to mess with. This? No, those are my crystals I got for Yule. (They're MINE and I really like them.) This? No, that's dental floss. This? No, that's an air freshener. WTF? What do your kids take for show and tell? Anything embarassing?

Okay, this is funny. A friend of mine from 5th grade once tok a bunch of notes to school and passed them out, even to boys...but she had inserted them in those blue tissue envelopes that used to come with Kotex for disposal. Remember those? She even wrote a letter to her sisters bf in the Marines and sent it like that! When she found out what they were she wanted to die. I had to laugh at her but I was at her house and had brough my clothes in a travel case that was for holding a old fashion hair dryer. I had no room to talk. Kids do the funniest sh** Pat. I thot maybe she was going to take rocks when I saw this. Rocks are cool. All kids collect rocks!

My daughter's school has a "letter of the week" show and tell. It has to fit in a paper lunch bag, and it needs three clues on the bag. I have sent in a doll(small), a mask, a seashell, a nickel, even her little brothers shoe, because last week it was the blend sh. I really love when she has Fridays off, cause then we don't have to do it!

We use to to the alphabet show and tell as well. We had pictures of uncles for "U" and puzzle piece X's. It doesn't "fit in" with our new curriculum though, so no more s&t. I use to let the children ask the shower 3 questions. Everyone use to ask "do you like it?" I made a rule stating no more asking that particuar question. Of course she likes it, if she didn't why would she want to show you.

They started the alphabet show and tell at my son's daycare recently. Every Thursday we send him with a toy for the letter of the week. So far we have been okay. Last week was "f" and he took his Flicker Flashlight from Handy Manny. Next week he will take his Curious George but other than play ice cream food I am stumped for "I". I told my husband that it has to be something he already has and it has to be obvious to 2 year olds what it is. No play on words. "J", and the usual "X" are stumpers too. I thought about sending him with one of my X-rays! LOL! But since he is so young we pick two things if possible to give him a choice so we don't really have problems yet.

Let us know what Lissa picks. I always love to hear how her mind works. She is clever and I am sure whatever she picks no one else will have it.

When my daughter was in school, she took my uncle's Mickey Mantle baseball card. They made her leave it in the office in the safe all day, and made my uncle come pick it up!

Muser Mommy: get him an "ice tray" and the kids who've grown up with icemakers can play "what is it" while they have show and tell.

OT...I found out I have been using a steroid cream on my face for too long. I didn't know I would have a reaction when I stopped using it. My dr. did warn me to wean myself off the steroid. Obviously, I didn't "wean" enough. My face is very swollen right now and as spotted as that rock in the middle on the top row. And it itches! I'm not supposed to go back to the dr. until Tues. but I will try to go tomorrow. I can't take this anymore.

And I also collect rocks. And the smooth ones are my favorite...they feel good.

Thanks for the ideas! It can be harder to think of things than you think.
