The Daily Mail has created a seperate website just for this wedding crap. Kate is now planning on riding in the same carriage Diana did. She already has her ring and her son, isn't that where you draw the line? The media acts like they're getting Diana back. Kate aint Di and never will be. And I don't mean that as a slam. Kate waited 8 years for Will to pop the question and I suspect she just wants the wedding over and done so she can be a Princess once and for all. There won't be any fireside chats where she admits infedelity and cries about her lonliness. All there will be is commemorative tea towels and Corgi cake toppers. Good luck making a book about that. Yawn..are we there yet?

For the life of me, I don't understand why he would give his mother's ring, a ring symbolizing a horrible and sad marriage, to his fiance. Give it to her if you like, but not as her engagement ring. Diana was such a beautiful woman and I was completely transfixed by all she did, this girl really doesn't strike any chords with me at all, very blah.
i have to say that is a good looking doll...actually looks like her!
i see a problem with him giving her his mother's ring....engagement rings are often passed down...
Don't you bet there is an agreement that if something were to happen, the ring would revert back to the family?
i can't see anything happening.....they have a great relationship and have been living together for about 6 years....he loves her and is ensuring she is not treated by 'the firm' like his mother was....
I'm sure he does, but no one starts out their married life anticipating it ending, but the unfortunate reality of it is that it can and does. That ring is a part of Diana's legacy to her sons and future grandchildren and should be protected, regardless. I don't know why it bugs me so much, but it really does. It's like a jinx in my eyes :/
i don't see the ring as a jinx at all to their relationship.....
I don't either. It's a pretty ring, Di probably liked it. She just wanted a diff man to go with it.
A new beginning deserves a new ring. Save grandma's wedding ring for the first granddaughter. That's all I'm saying :)
Di did pick that ring....she had a tray of rings to choose from and she picked that one out because it was the biggest one...
i think their marriage will be successful...
It will be a successful union if the media and the old guard, "grey suits" at the palace leave her alone.
If not, all bets are off.
I think it's a sweet sentiment. If I were in her place I'd look at it like I was carrying a little bit of Diana with me. I'd be honored to wear my deceased MIL's ring, even if she didn't have a happy marriage. The ring wasn't responsible for that brouhaha, the couple was. (Well, I've always blamed Charles for that). Anyway, it was something Di wore every day and was a part of her. And her son loved her very much and so it's a lovely tribute.
I agree that this marriage will last. I think that he's very aware of what happens in a loveless marriage and I'm sure he doesn't want to go down the same path his parents did. These 2 kids seem to have a genuine fondness for each other... a friendship that was absent from his parents' marriage. In the end, THAT is what makes a marriage in my opinion. When the lust and passion has cooled you need to genuinely like each other and they seem to. I've been following this story and will undoubtedly watch the wedding as I did his mother's. I'm far from obsessed but it IS fascinating to me. She'll never be Princess Di, but who could fill those shoes? She'll do just fine, I think.
