Bad cook learns to do fish

A friend who likes to fish gave me some fresh Blue Gill. I thought I'd cook some, even though I suck at cooking. I'd just made tea so I had some boiling water. I poured the hot water in a microwave steamer and put the thin fish fillets in. Just then, Lissa got dropped off and was wanting to go to McDonalds. So, I put the lid on the steamer, left it on the sink and took her. I got her, my mom and the dog cheeseburgers and fries and came home. I looked in the steamer and the damn fish is perfectly cooked. I put pepper and fresh lemon on it and chowed down. Dang. I'm gonna cook it like this on purpose next time. A little Uncle Bens pre-cooked rice and it will look like I know what I'm doin'.

Oh, McDonalds finally gave me a correct order. The chick who took the order has Downs Syndrome. Geesh. They had a minature Barbie with removable wings in the box. It was way cool. Lissa asked if I got those when I was little. I said, no, we got a slap upside the head. And we had to pay extra for that.

I rarely go to any fast food places, but I've never had a problem. This time of the year, the boss gets breakfast sandwiches for everyone on Saturday morning. This morning she opened up the office, then left to pick them up at McDonald's. Told the girl she wanted 7 bacon/egg/cheese biscuits and two sausage biscuits. Girl told her the bill was 5 bucks & change. Boss said...Can't be right. Girl said you wanted 2 sausage and one bacon - right? NO, I want 7 bacon and 2 sausage. When she got back to the office there were NINE sausage biscuits and no bacon. GAG, I can't eat their sausage, makes me sick. Boss's dog (the office dog) got my sausage.

Your blue gills sound good. Tiny little fillets, but very tasty!

Dont you just love that. When food comes out perfect and you dont even try. I know I do..

Ugh are mcdonalds is the worst ever. they would screw up a wet dream if they could. Horrible experiences at that place. One time charged me 60 bucks for 4 wraps. I guess having pictures on the cash register doesn't help.

I love cooking, but fish is my achilles heel. It is so hard to get it "just right". I'm trying your method next time.

Happy Mardi Gras, Bayou Jane!

Seems very quiet here lately. Everything alright, DD?

Am finally getting over that damn flu bug and starting to feel more human. A very nice feeling!

I used to cook tilapia in the oven, but the last two times I tried, it turned out like crap, so I gave up.

It's been quiet here, hope you're ok Pat!!

My new favorite way to make fish is in the dishwasher. Make a packet out of foil, toss in the fish, some lemon and pepper, seal the crap out of it and toss it in along with your load of dishes. Comes out perfect every time and no mess to clean up.

Hope you're well, DD

I've heard of people cooking fish in the dishwasher, but NEVER with a load of dishes. Your fish would taste of cascade..disgusting! There is no way you could seal it water tight unless you put it in a sealed plastic container or jar.
