Lissa's trophy spider

We identified him as a black Wolf Spider, Hogna genus. He came out from under the stairs while we were eating dinner and after many, 'holy shit, holy shit's'...we trapped him in a salsa jar. He was a beauty! He now resides in the mailbox garden. Happy hunting, dude.

Finding and identifing them has actually become fun as of today. Might as well have fun while were infested. LOL.

For once, I'm glad it gets cold enough here so that bugs freeze and die in the winter. We never see junk that big...yuk!

Although we look forward to the orb weavers in the fall, they have the most beautiful webs and they just lay around waiting for bugs to land in them. Then they die. Kind of sad.

I don't care what kind of spider I find. To me, they are all dead meat and considered lethal. I get the skeebies just looking at that thing. I know we have them around here, but I wouldn't take the time to figure out what it was. Yuuuuck!!

Every Spring. Yesterday I saw 50 snakes. And I hadn't even made it to the back yard yet. Iowa. Says it all.

Could not... would have left the house screaming. But would also need to know that it was out of the house. So I would creep back in and throw something over it, which would accomplish nothing and run out screaming again.

Lissa seems so "nonchalant" about the whole ordeal! I bet he was fun to watch for a bit though once caught.

He was actually very nice and not agressive. I petted him, but, she wouldn't. She's getting over her fear of spiders.
