Home sick. Learned the real meaning of the word SHART. Thank goodness I was at home. lol, all you can do is laugh at yourself when you're that bad off. I'm so sick and miserable I can't get comfortable enough to nap.
i love balloon flowers! mine bloomed last month....i have some that are 15+ years old and i've moved them with me from place to place....some plants i left for others to enjoy but i always took my balloon flowers....they're now planted here for good!
i'm coming down with the sore throat/fever/whatever eddie has...we thought his company made us sick (hah!) but apparently this bug is going thru his sister's house and he picked it up there friday when he took down persephone to meet the family.....
still gonna sit outside today though and enjoy the sun and paint a canvas a friend gave me for their daughter---they gave their friends canvases to paint and then she's gonna put them all on the nursery wall.....and drink tea with honey....not thrilling at all and i quite like that! :)
I have never seen a balloon flower; they are beautiful and big. I am at work (Mattel) - busy as usual, taking breaks here and there to read blogs and comment on stuff. Makes the work day go faster.
I sent you some pics via your email for a hoot. Some of my vintage clothes and some of our home. Post if you please.
Shart is one of the funniest words ever and it sounds like it is!
Feel better Tia! My daughter has that now too. She was off y'day thankfully, but back to work today. She thought going for a run this morning would help her feel better, but it didn't. She laid around all day y'day tho, was really sick and can't swallow. Maybe its the AC? She thinks it might be allergies. But others at her work or their kids have it too. Sucks to be sick in the summer. Anytime! Take care! :) Rox
i don't think it's the AC...it's actually gotten cooler here.....nor allergies...eddie has it, his nephew's gf has it, now i have it...obviously just a bug going around.....not gonna overdo it and am gonna sit in the sun and enjoy the silence and peace out front....was about to do that, but muffyne was upstairs wanting his afternoon can---and you do not argue with a 17 year old cat! :) thanks rox!!
My throat hurts too...that's what started it and I've been burning up all day. Thought maybe it was allergies and drainage, by an Allegra didn't help. No amount of tea is fixing this sore throat.
Hope your stomach doesn't get the sicks, Miss Tia.
I hope you are feeling better Beth.....if this is what Edward has and i am sure it is...it's just sore throat/cold related....no amount of tea was fixing his sore throat either and it's not helping mine....bugger!!! i'll just wait it out and keep drinking tea anyway....
A report I heard this afternoon on the sink hole---there are still small earthquakes being felt and the "really good news (haha)---the salt dome that is right next to it, and getting closer, holds butane. To give you an idea of how big a dome is, the hole is roughly the size of 3 football fields and that is not the whole dome. I'm assuming when they say 3 football fields, they are talking about heighth, depth, and width. So if the adjacent butane dome ignites, we are talking very huge boom! These domes are called the Napoleonville Domes. I lived in Napoleonville. The dome is actually between Nap. and where I live now.
I went to see my hippy-dippy dr. today. (He's bald on top and has a pony tail. He wears Hawaiian shirts a lot. I think he thinks he Jimmy Buffet.) I told him my fibromyalgia has REALLY been in the 10-12 level of pain. He told me a lot of people have fibro. and to learn to deal with it. I think I will be finding a new dr. sooner than I thought. The man is so ADHD, he makes me a nervous wreck. I actually leave with more pain than I walked in with.
Miss Tia...Put some bourbon in that tea and you will forget about feeling bad. A little toddy for the body might be what I need. I don't see where it would hurt. It sounds good to me.
sounds like a plan!!! I'll go to the state store tomorrow and get some johnny walker!!! :)
sorry you have a hippy-dippy dr. jane....that's just awful...just deal with it??? does he not realize that that is a real disease with real pain??? i'm so sorry you are in so much pain! ((HUGS))
thanks for the update on the sink hole....that is actually quite scary! and they knew about this for how long??? i hope this is handled in a SAFE manner with no one harmed and no one loosing their homes (or lives)......
It is cold, wet, hailing here and our house is full of coughs and colds. Gross.
Xelia is 21 months old now - still not walking, but she a bundle of fun and saying new words everyday. Parrotting everything (so I keep getting angry at hubby as he curses absentmindedly!)
well, i'm just painting this one canvas! she handed out i think 20-24 canvases to people to paint for her baby....no artistic ability required! so i fit in that category! we just have to include lavender in the color scheme.....i'll take a pix when i'm done and send it to you....
my other painting endeavors is re-painting eddie's wooden grinch that i coated with kilz to cover the smoke damage/smell, which i gotta do before winter since i have to do that outside....and then i have to repaint a grinch snowglobe where we couldn't clean off all the smoke damage but it's too valuable to throw out, so i'll repaint it with model paint---never painted a model so that should be 'interesting'....
i got the base coat on---same color as my house....and i painted stems....she wanted everyone to paint a saying or blessing for her daughter so i'm painting flowers that represent things her garden of life should be full of: love, wisdom, sunshine, peace, etc....
Jane, Sorry your doctor is an ass. Please forgive me for offering unsolicited advice, but I also have fibromyalgia. In case you don't know or haven't been checked, make sure you aren't deficient in Vitamin D. I was when I was checked years ago and it made a huge difference in my quality of life. Goodbye morning stiffness and claw hands. Also, if your insurance allows it, go to a Rheumatologist, they take care of the "ugly step-children" of fibromyalgia. I've been told by a neurologist that it's also the body's way of having a migraine aura in the body. Getting my migraines under control helped me too with Fibromyalgia fatigue and pain.
Home sick Day 2 with crud in chest and head. Tea still isn't helping the funk. Wish I had some fresh eucalyptus leaves to boil on the stove to open me up.

Helloooooo!
Long time no comment :)
It is cold, wet, hailing here and our house is full of coughs and colds. Gross.
Xelia is 21 months old now - still not walking, but she a bundle of fun and saying new words everyday. Parrotting everything (so I keep getting angry at hubby as he curses absentmindedly!)
Your garden is coming along nicely DD.
is the balloon flower a type of convolvulous?
is the balloon flower a type of convolvulous?
Get well, Beth. We won't tell about the S word.
Tia, you painting pics now??
Jane, I've had doctors who told me to pray for headaches. Find a new doc. He aint worth it if he make you feel bad.
Vanessa, convolvulous? I do not know. Hmm. It's a stray I forgot about. They don't do well here for some reason.
Mary, it's a little one. It makes a balloon that pops, and then PING.. flower. I'll go check my email.
Lia, I can't find your link. :(

Oh, good. I'd like to see it.
Lia..I'm posting that. It's adorable.
Dear Tia,
Please share your artwork! Let's see!
Wow! I would love to see a balloon flower go 'pop!' Guess they are not indigenous here.
i got the base coat on---same color as my house....and i painted stems....she wanted everyone to paint a saying or blessing for her daughter so i'm painting flowers that represent things her garden of life should be full of: love, wisdom, sunshine, peace, etc....

Tia, what a thoughtful idea behind your painting! It sounds really soulful!
it'll be on a 1st grade skill level! :) i'll send DD a pix when it's done!!
I like the idea. It's sweet. I'd be afraid everybody would paint me crosses to hang up. LOL
