Rain!
Today is a true rainy day. I love it. That's big, long Trumpet seed pods hanging outside the door. I don't know much about them, but, I will save and dry some. I'm happy to share if anyone wants to try and grow it. Lissa is going to live with me for awhile again. I don't really know what's going on over there. Her social worker called yesterday and asked me to pick her up and keep her. I suppose I'll find out what went on after the weekend. I am tickled to have her here. I wish I'd saved more school clothes back, but, we'll figure it out. She has a few here, we can make do. She's going to work with me today and hang out. I was going to hit yard sales this morning, but, they got rained out. The rain is beautiful though. It's a good day. How about you?

gonna paint some more on the grinch, then do some yard work.....then get in my garage and look for some things for a friend....
i just checked my weather, we might get rain monday.....
Oh boy, Lis is with YOU. That just feels right. It's been hot here in Southern California - in the mid 90's - but today we have a marine layer so it's overcast. Going to go up to Runyon Canyon for a big, long hike. You can see all of LA up there.
"sigh" so it has started again, I wonder if they will finally get a clue & just let that poor child stay where she should, with you & not shuffled from pillar to post!
Pissing down here too, bank holiday weekend & no where to go & nothing to do cause it is so overcast, cold & wet. thankfully took the boy & his mate down to Leeds Castle http://www.leeds-castle.com/land.php yesterday for the day, lots of running around & playing at the knights realm so don't feel too bad that he is stuck in playing 'puter & watching adventure time today.
Went this AM to the local charity shop & got a coffee table plus a double bed frame with brand new mattress for the boys bedroom, all for 100 quid. Bargain.
I now have 2 double mattresses which should solve any overnight guests sleeping arrangement issues.
I love it when a plan comes together.
Have a fab weekend all.
totally agree, they need to let her stay with you....how many times are they gonna bounce her back and forth??
Ah, my kids at that age wanted to wear the same 3 outfits every day anyway. Even the teenager, I have to threaten to pin her down and pry her clothes off to get her to put those stinky things in the wash.
We had a killer hail storm here the other day...for how black the sky was at 330 in the afternoon, I was sure a tornado was coming. It pummeled my poor pumpkin plant and all my sunflowers :( . I guess I need to go pull all that out today.
Wave at me Mary Mary as you overlook L.A.! Im down here near the harbor. I can see it from my front yard and if I walk a couple blocks over by my kids school - have a lovely view of the Vincent Thomas Bridge that Tony Scott leapt from last weekend. Actually had to drive over it last Tuesday to go into Long Beach - felt creept and sad.
We are in hurricane season here so we have have been getting a lot of rain every day. You need hip waders to get through my yard now. We are waiting to see wher Isaac will go. The Am. model says its going to Fla. The European model says it is coming to us--will go right over my house. Wherever it ends up, I hope it weakens to a tropical storm. Cross your fingers.
And I am glad that Lis is back with you. I'm sure she will share what is going on with you. Has she been giving any clues on the weekends? I suppose not. You would have picked up on it by now. Would she hide this info from you?
Give her hugs for me!!! Gabe should be a big boy by now. Would love to see a pic.
Wouldn't it be nice if Social Services quit jerking Lissa around. Thought those experts had it all figured out last spring. Yepper, the best place for her was with momma! Will those people ever get a clue? Freaking idiots.
you sound happy!
If you'd like to email me sizes I'd be happy to buy a few things for her. We have the best Goodwill here. And I only have boys so it would be fun for me to look for a girl for a change!
It must be bad if they just called and asked that you take her. Sorry for both you and Lissa, that this jerking around keeps going on. I thought they "cured" her with their classes. From the little I know, I would say that she is not curable, and that they just need to leave Lissa with you. Best for everyone, IMHO.
I desperately wanted to be off today, but we were going "live" with the new hospital computer system through August, so there was no hope of getting the day off. The computer live date was scaled back to next April due to issues with the new system, not previously discovered, at another hospital. Still couldn't get the day off. Two days ago, someone randomly called while I was at work, and offered to work 8 hours of my 12. I was still scheduled for 7 am to 11 am, but got put on-call this morning. Voila!!! I have the day off! Though they could still call me in until 11, it is really not so likely to happen.
Today is the annual Antiques Fair in our town, where they close off a number of blocks of main street, and have vendors lining both sides, and the side streets. Food, music, antiques, and interesting objects, etc. I look forward to it every year.
My husband and I are also invited to a cook out at one of his customer's house that he helped them build from the ground up. My family's picnic got cancelled because we couldn't all make it, but we will reschedule.
The past few days have been horrible at work. On divert, and so busy! My younger dog, Harley has been fighting for his life, too, but he came home yesterday afternoon, and is able to eat and drink again. I am so thankful!
My son now has a girlfriend, which means we hardly ever see him.
The weather has been really nice---70's with that Fall feeling in the air. My favorite time of year.
@connie45: Are you in SP? I lived in the LB for years and years and years in Belmont Shores. I am waving to you right now! : )
Jane ... I think you need to trade your hip boots in for waders or a row boat. Looks like Isaac is heading your way. Keep dry & keep safe.
Yep...Isaac is, at this point, heading straight for us. We can only hope it doesn't gain too much strenghth before it gets to us. I'll be heading to my sisters and my son will be with his great uncle. Just hope we can all keep our roofs, but we will loose power for a long time. For Gustave, we were without power for weeks. And it is always hot as hell after a hurricane. I guess all we can do is cross our fingers and wait. It should hit Tues. night or Wed. morning. All the store shelves are empty now.
DD...thinking about you and hoping for the best. Hugs to Lis.
And if Isaac hits Wed., that will be the 7th anniversity of Katrina. Let's hope there is no deja vue! New Orleans is already making plans of evacuation. Just waiting for the word.
Erin...if you are still in N.O.---get the hell out now. That airport becomes a horror when a hurricane hits. Take sweet cheeks Baby Billy and go home. Give him kisses for me and we want more pics!
Jane and Erin...I am thinking of you. Geez. This is not good news. Gonna go read what's going on your way.
Miss S, that's awfully nice of you. We can make do.
Yes Miss Mary Iam in SP - or as I've always called it Planet P. Because if you are not conceived born and raised here - you might as well be from another planet.
Belmont Shores is a busy fun place - as is where you live now. In fact - I think you can turn any town into a fun place to be!
Thinking of all those affected by this storn. Please take extra care!
