RHONJ Autisim

Jaqoholic Laurita announced that her youngest child, Nicholas, has been diagnosed with Autism. She claims the most telling clue was that he wouldn't tell her he loved her. I have nothing much to say about this, I never paid any attention to her small kids and never noticed anything was wrong with him. Many viewers say they did. She says all her time is spent looking up things she can do to deal with this and help him. That made me smirk. Sorry, but, that chick is on Twatter all day picking fights and dissing Teresa. I'm not even sure I believe her claim. It doesn't help to have Albie Manzo talking about how BLK water is now helping Autistic children. Jaqoholic and her slack eyed husband have everything invested in BLK water with the Manzo boys. Now, suddenly, Nicholas is Autistic and they have plenty of BLK. Will he suddenly be cured? It's a rotten thought, I feel rotten even saying it. But, there you go. I sure hope she told Teresa about this first, before it went public. That's what friends do, don't they? (Yes, I am a bitch.)

No, you're not a bitch. They put themselves out there and present themselves in a light that makes it easy to be cynical about them.

I feel for any kid, I only hope the best for him. His parents are a mess if you ask me.

Seems to me maybe we just think there's something 'wrong' with some of these kids. Maybe they're just different. I dunno. One of the hardest things about raising kids is just letting them be themselves and accepting that they're not you.

I feel for him too. He's lucky enough to be born into a home where they have the money to take care of him. But I just hope his parents focus on him and not the fame.

They have money problems and it will come out soon. Unless he has hidden assets like Juicy apparently does. His wife can't write a successful book like Tre did. That's for sure.

Not saying that autism isn't a real thing, but why are there suddenly so many kids diagnosed with it when 30-40 years ago almost no one had ever heard of it. The current stats are now 1 in 88 kids will have it.

CJ, it's the same thing with ADD. Suddenly any kid who showed some spunk and enthusiasm had it. The school tried to have my son diagnosed with it when he was in elementary school and the doctor shut them down. I'm not saying there aren't kids out there who have it but it's just been an easy diagnosis for too many people.

Um....thirty to forty years ago those with autism usually were misdiagnosed, typically with schizophrenia. Since autism is a spectrum disorder with a wide range of severity, more and more individuals fall under the autism umbrella. And just for the record, I can personally not think of one individual I have worked with who couldn't express affection in some way toward a parent.

That makes sense. I do think some of the cause of new diagnosis's are the chems the government allows in food and milk. It's wrong on all levels, but, I haven't researched it enough to spout off. Yet. Autism would be difficult, but, not the end of the world. Many Autistic people are independant and interesting. I suppose it depends on the degree. At least there's hope with the diagnosis.

I lean toward all those damn electronic toys and gadgets.

There is more wrong with the parents than the kids. There are some cases of genuine autism. But we send our kids to college and they, at their ages, are enthralled with psych and social problems etc. So they study it and there are no jobs. So you have to invent spectrum disorders and get government grants to study them. This protects the professors jobs, the students' line of interest, and keeps the grant thing going. In Sacramento about 10 yrs ago they built an obscenely expensive autism center near UC Davis. I figured if you build it they will come. They did. The number of kids diagnosed increased 10 fold after the place was built. Surprised? No. Follow the money. Always follow the money. There are thousands of diagnosed kids who are there to keep others in jobs they love. Rather than jobs that might actually result in the resolution of a problem.
