Source... so, this kid, age 18 bought a bootleg gun from a pal, took it to a party (unbelievable) and was showing off. He said he was 'cleaning' it. It fired and he managed to shoot through his penis, his testicle and it loged in his thigh. The article showed the friends party house, it's clearly his mommy and daddy's home. These are Florida suburb kids and they have no gun knowlege, I can assume. When boys think guns are cool and symbols of power bad things happen. This crap does not happen around here where guns are a way of life. No one would think you're the cool kid if you have a gun, because most kids his age have owned a gun for years. Yesterday Lissa brought home the form for the gun safety course. She's 8. I told her I'd tell her what she needs to know. 1..guns are always loaded and can kill you. Always. I don't care what you think, what you can know is that guns are ALWAYS loaded and treated as such. 2.. You never ever point a gun at anyone or any animal unless you are going to kill it. Are you really going to kill someone? Then do not point the gun at them. Ever. The safety class would go farther, teaching them to load and unload and how to clean it. She doesn't need that right now. I told her when I get time, I will take her shooting, like I did my own kids. You can agree or disagree with me, but, she won't be part of a bunch of kids who manage to shoot their own dick off because they think they're cool. Guns aren't cool. Knowing how to save your own life is cool. Look at that kid, he's about as bad ass as Justin Beiber and now he's got a hole in his dick. That's gotta hurt. He's lucky he wasn't pointing it at his block head.

OMG, too funny. I'm trying to drag ass out of bed to meet with my boss. Thank you for the motivation. I may have nausea and vertigo, but I don't have a penis that's been shot to shit. How humiliating and stupid.

gun safety class in school for 8 year olds?!?!?! is this because it's iowa? but still.....then applying the 'it's iowa' thinking, you'd think they'd think their kinfolk would teach 'em about guns.....your gun lesson was the best!!
Yep. School sent it home with all grade school students. I guess that wouldn't fly in New York City? It's a good thing IMO. Age 8 is when most of them start it here and they repeat it every year. Hunting season starts soon and if we were hunters, she would be taking it.
Beth...I'm so sorry to see you like that. My mom had the same thing and it was horrible for her. She wouldn't complain, but I knew when it was bad. It was the only thing that would put her to bed.

PS: Beth whats wrong with you? Do you have Meniere's Disease? I had it for over 40 years before being diagnosed. It's hell-on-earth, thats for sure. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Don't eat any salt! Very important. 2nd, no caffeine. 3rd, NO SALT again. Get lots of sleep. If you don't have any meds yet from a Dr, get some Dramamine and take it 2-3 times a day. I take Meclizine Rx, same strength as Dramamine, a water pill and Valiums. You do need lots of sleep and absolutely NO SALT. Please take care and get to an Otolaryngologist ASAP! I never knew what was wrong for 40 years! I had my 1st attack at 10! Don't waste your time with the family Dr like I did. Take care. xo

i still wish you could see my vestibular expert rox!!! he's an expert in meniere's with new treatment methods.....
also beth, water with lemon juice will help...natural lemon....the tartness makes your mouth pucker which helps your inner ear 'reset' itself and that's what is off and causing your vertigo.....rox totally knows about this, unfortunately!! i had vertigo for almost a year but got dx'd with vestibular migraines, now i'm medication......

We're like a Bermuda's Triangle of migraines and vertigo here...the way we all found DD is bizarre.
Yeah, I need to get the vertigo worked up. I thought it was a medication side effect or a new migraine aura, but it's a new constant. I appreciate all the advice and kind words. You guys are so awesome.

could be a medication side effect if you just started or increased dosage on something.....
make sure who you see is also a neurologist too in addition to what rox said.....and definitely make sure it just isn't an ENT!! i went to an ENT at first and he was basically a quack, spent 5 minutes with me, said i had meniere's and there was nothing to be done....i found an expert, it wasn't meniere's it was vestibular migraines and within 2 weeks i was 'back to normal'....
Yeah, Tia, I have a neurologist for the migraines. I have a ringing in my ears and then a low roar. Hard to describe. Haven't altered my migraine pills, but I was diagnosed with narcolepsy this summer. Not fun and not like the movies. I don't fall asleep driving or at work. So if I'm like Rox, I'm screwed if sleep and rest is what I need. If it's migraine related I'm screwed too because I have more because I have such poor sleep I have more migraines. But hey, I'm safe, my folks are safe and so is my cat. My boss is working with me and HR to keep my job secure. I'm lucky. And I've develope a nasty habit for red licorice!

Migraines are the most evil of all non deadly curses. They just flatten you into a molten blob of agony for days. I feel for you. I really do. Mine have all but stopped since I got a hysterectomy. It must have been horemone related
Migraines ARE the Devil's crowbar. Mine have dissipated since I began menopause this year. O, darling dear Beth, if you can get some, go to a Vitamin or Health Food store and get some peppermint oil to rub on your temples and pressure points. Avoid getting near or in your eyes. And get some Slippery Elm tablets or Charcoal tablets for the nausea. Loads of water, too.
Tia, I spent 2 hours on the girls restroom floor, door locked,lights off, here at my office with my face laying on the cold register. I had to get in there in case I barfed and because it's dark and cold. I didn't have salt but had failed to get a lot of sleep over the holiday weekend. Ppl here at work know and understand. There's nothing to be done, I have to let it pass and get the meds in my system. Cold and dark is a big help. I wish I could see your Dr too!!! I think I am too far gone. Thats what the docs tell me. Too much damage has been done. Short of surgically removing my inner ear he said there's no hope. :( It makes me wanna die tho. Dying would be a cinch compared to this effer!!

my dr. has written a few books on serious/severe cases----so you might still have hope with him!!! sometime if you have a couple week days off, seriously consider going to see him!! the first appt. is like 3-4 hours as he is THOROUGH and he doesn't make you go on a 'spin spin' machine either, as i was adamant i wouldn't do that.....
cold & dark is what always helped me too!!
i hit enter too soon and can't edit....he also has pioneered a new method of treating meniere's.....
