Afganistan..what appears to be a pile of rags by the road is actually a tiny newborn. Polish soldiers found her and named her Pola which I found out means 'Field'. It seems very appropriate. You can see the baby
HERE, she is a picture perfect newborn. Anyone who wanted a baby would be proud and happy to have her. That photo I put on, well, I just keep looking at it, wondering. Who is the mother? Is she a child herself? Was this the product of rape? Is the child's only crime being born female? How desperate would you have to be to leave your helpless newborn in that hellish barren landscape? There is not even a place to hide so that you could make sure she gets found. Yet, the child was not injured, which tells me she was not tossed from a vehicle. She was placed there, wrapped in a towel. Makes me think her mother did not hate or blame her. Maybe she did care about her? Was her mother terrified she wouldn't be spotted and some big machinery might smash her? Maybe she didn't care and just wanted out of the whole situation and will never think about it again. Maybe the mother died in childbirth and the baby was abandoned by her father? I don't know. There were so many horrible baby stories today I couldn't handle it, but, this child gets a chance. So, it's a good story, I guess. But, we'll never know the real story. I really want the real story on this one. I'm not sure why.

She was probably just born right before they found her. Thats insane. She is perfectly beautiful and now will have a good life and be loved. She was brand new!! The poor mother obviously didn't have any post pregnancy care, so thats not good. Like you said, she may not have survived the birth. This made me cry. Those big, brave men got soft over this lady! Wonderful story. Thank you.

and she will be handed back to the local government once she is considered healthy enough, which basically means she is fucked, a girl and an orphan. zero chance at all.
sorry to shit on a happy story but let's face it, that is the reality.
I'm confused about this story. Did the mother give birth to a baby not realizing she was pregnant but gave birth to a baby along the roadside and then left it there? The mother was English? And didn't know she gave birth? And they gave the baby back to the mother who abandoned her? Please fill me in on the story. I don't think I got it right.

Jo I think you are confusing 2 separate stories. This one, of an Afghan baby being found by soldiers at he side of the road & the 2nd story of a British soldier who didn't know she was pregnant, got deployed to Afghanistan who gave birth a few days later.
