HERE is the sad story of a fire that broke out in the Triangle Shirt Waist Factory in the year 1911. The girls, and I say girls because most of them were very young had been trying to get better work conditons, less hours, more pay and mostly better safety features in the top of the building where they worked. Not only did bosses not comply, they locked the girls in during working hours supposedly to keep the union riff raff out. Heavy metal doors. Many lost their lives that cold March day, most were girls. Some were children working illegally. Nearly 150 of them had to jump, because there was no hope. So, that day, it rained young girls.
It's a terrible story with awful photos. Women and girls and even children were disposable then when there was money to be made. And no laws to change it.

look what is happening at those indian clothing factories now---remember those photos from last year of after a fire with hundreds dead and a couple were found hugging each other dead in the rubble? those doors were also locked.....same problems, nor in 3rd world countries where the big business here can send their manufacturing jobs with basically zero oversight!
same as with foxcom in china making stuff for apple....they fucking put up suicide nets!
