Satanic FireWhore is driving me crazy. I'll tell you what the deal is..this thing is running something in the background that makes my computer sound like a goddamn blender on speed. It cranks up every single time I use the computer, and I know for a fact it's Firefox because when I got in the task bar and shut that fucker off, it stops immediately. But, then it won't let me use IE! It slows it down, freezes it and sometimes it flat out shut off my net connection! I get so pissed off I could just crunch it's skull, if it had one. If Firefox was a person, I'd be in prison for murder and that is no shit.
It's so fucking sneaky my virus protection sees it as adorable. I think they're best friends. I can't figure out what it's doing in the background. Every time I turn my computer off, which I have to do several times a day because that is the ONLY way to stop this invasive mother fucker, it asks me if I want to force the shut down of background programs. Hell, yes, I do. What is this evil mother fucker doing, does anyone smart out there know?? I can't find any answers, maybe I'm not wording my search right. I've tried so many different ways though, but, I can't find a thing. It's like a hidden evil and I want this shit out of my damn computer, but, if I kick it out, I can't blog. Because Google now requires it to be on here. I feel like I'm held hostage. I hate this cock sucker. I HATE IT's GUTS. Sneaky, back stabbing, blender running, jet plane engine, freeze up, slow ass, mother fucking, piece of goddamn shit has nothing IE doesn't have. I was totally happy before this shit fucked me up the bung with no Vaseline. WTF is this thing up to and how do I stop it? Please give me a clue before you see me on the news blowing up offices somewhere.

Go into the settings and turn off hardware acceleration.
Thanks, I will try that. You're good at this stuff. But, what exactly is it doing??
Will Google Chrome work with your blogger?
Had that. Hated it too.
Chrome sucks. Firefox is trying to give you the full modern web experience with all the crap stuffed into every website running at full throttle without bothering to ask you if your computer can handle the load. So it crashes you. Acceleration should be disabled by default but it's not. Because the people who make that stuff assume everyone is running a machine they bought new last week.
Chrome is the worst. Our IT guy says when you install it, it changes things in the registry the prevents anything but Google products to work right. Uninstalling it doesn't fix the problem, you have to manually change registry items. He's a big fan of Firefox, but clearly it has problems, too. The hardware acceleration might be causing the disk drive to run...is that the blender sound?
Thanks for explaining, both of you. I'll have a go at fixing it now...later. I am punked out for real. I may sleep for a day and night. You guys are the best and so smart.
I use Chrome exclusively. I quit Firefox since their update to 4.0 years ago, it started crashing on me. It's a virtual memory hog. IE and Safari freeze too much for my liking. Chrome hasn't disappointed me at all.
I hate that these developers think they can just shove their latest and greatest "beta" programs without doing their job and optimizing first. That's the downside of open source, they think they can experiment while making our surfing experience a bad one.
I know you won't like this response, especially since it is from ANON......but the answer is to buy a Mac and get rid of these problems altogether. I know you have no money. Who does? But this is the answer!
I have used Torch (chrome based) since I had massive problems and my computer blew up back in November. I was using Firefox exclusively for years and it did just what you described.
So far I have not had any issues with Torch.
So all this is like a foreign language to me. I hate being a nontechnical person in a technical world. (It's like being dropped in the middle of China and I don't speak the language there either.) And I don't have enough tech knowledge to even ask questions.
Someone did tell me Mac was better. (Why?) But then I have to wonder why everyone doesn't have one.
Damn Melvin! You're smart! You're not just a pretty face! Who knew! I'm enamored even more now.
I run something called Ghostery that blocks a lot of crap. I have Firefox also. Ghostery is easy to turn off--one thing at a time-- and on if you want to see comments or do a quiz or something on a website. Otherwise it blocks EVERYTHING.
I really like it.
I use Chrome. It works with blogger because: google. I haven't had any issues with it. Used Firefox in the past but like Meissa I uninstalled it about four years ago for the same reason.
I once used Opera on the recommendation of a friend. Really bad experience. Very invasive and screwed with my registry. That friend is dead now. I admit to nothing.
I use IE for updating Flash and Nvidia drivers and I resent it.
