Man stops charging elephant with a wave of his hand

This is amazing. A young man is charged by an Elephant and he stands his ground and holds up his hand. The Elephant stops, inches away and turns back. It's just incredible.

You can see exactly where the guy gets 'that feeling'. That feeling is what I wanted to talk about. I don't understand it, but, I know it's real. I've never been lucky enough to meet an Elephant (bucket list!) but, it has happened to me with strange, run away horses, wild long horned steers, peckish vipers, crazed monkeys and big dogs..to name a few. I'm sure you animal lovers will know what I'm talking about. A feeling comes over you, it's not just in your head or mind, it's a full body experience. Like an aura of some sort. It happens in a split second and you have a total connection with an animal, and you just know. You just know.

Have you ever experienced that feeling, that connection?

That elephant was angry. She seemed to yell at him, like an angry mother would. I bet she's seen some shit from humans. I connect like that with dogs. My house seems to be a magnet for runaways. Those assholes know I'll feed them and keep them until we find it's owner.

Briezy, I love you for doing that for dogs. Dogs are tough and I admire anyone who helps strays. I love dogs, but, I know I can't do what you do. Bless you. That's a cute pic of you, by the way. You're a doll.

Yes, I do. Which is why I have never been bitten by the most hurt, angry, hungry dogs that we have rescued. They (and I) just know that no one is going to get hurt because there is nothing but love and respect for the animal.

Sometimes.
The video is really scarey to me. My great-great grandfather was killed in an elephant stampede on the slopes of Kilimanjaro. I grew up hearing about that, and am really uncomfortable with elephants. Don't like them at the zoo, as toys, etc. I haven't made a conscious decision not to like them, I just feel it.
I feel badly for the elephant in that video, though. Poachers are rampant in many areas, and I think elephants are aware of why they are slaughtered. (Tusks) I read on Drudge over the weekend, that the elephant that was very likely the largest (or at least one of the very few huge males left) was killed by poachers. They found his body, with the face and tusks missing. The report said that he had retreated into the brush over the years, hiding behind bushes, they thought he was trying to hide his tusks. I think the guy was a fool for standing there, a jerk for disturbing wildlife to where she temporarily lost it, and lucky as all get out that he isn't a grease stain on the jungle floor.

That Chinese guy stopped an entire row of tanks just by standing in their way, in Tienamen square back in 1989. That was very brave and still nobody to this day, knows who that guy was! I love that part. Like Batman or some thing. He is still called a hero and has never come forth to be known. That makes him even more awesome.
