90 year old Eleuoise is the last stand off. She wouldn't sell her home to the company doing new construction. It's her home, she's lived there for 46 years, her late husband built the home. Now, she's alone, all the surrounding houses are gone and construction is taking place all around her. The article said she had complained about the noise. She pointed a shotgun at construction workers and at deputies approaching the scene. Authorities moved in with a helicopter and a swat team. I shit you not, a swat team for an old lady with a shotgun. She held the standoff for an hour, which is amazing. You can see her clearly sitting on her porch, looking cool as a cucumber, with her gun, which they found out later, WAS loaded. She meant business. Her neighbor said she's hard to get along with, it's her way or the highway.
Well, you know what? It's her damn house and I don't think we're getting the whole story here. First, how can they claim she's a danger to 'elders and mom and babies' in the neighborhood, when she's the last one left? How fucking far do they think shotgun pellets scatter? Please. You use shotguns close up and she knows it. That's more of a defense pose than a threat. Why had no one investigated her noise complaints? Were the construction workers told to move those big machines as close to her as the property lines allow? Were they ordered to harass her into selling? The neighbor also said, "She just doesn't want to sell." Hmm, it tells me they're still after her to sell. I'm telling you, it's just a gut feeling, but, this story is fucked up. That old lady is being run out. Betcha.

You bet the sheriff was in on it. Probably the right amount of money changed hands. It's disgusting. I think the reason they brought in a SWAT team, etc. was because they want a show of force, to impress anyone and everyone, that it doesn't matter if you are a little old lady. They will squash you if they feel like it, and there is nothing you can do about it. It's a message to all of us, every time something like this happens. The message is, you will not resist. If you resist, we will squash you, and you will have a mental evaluation, which will probably prove that you are dangerous, and will lose the right to bear arms, so you will no longer have any way of attempting to resist in any meaningful manner.

I lived near our airport for nearly 30 years until they decided to expand and pretty much told us all that we had to move. And I had just redone the whole house, too. It was just a little thing, but I could afford it and I new every square inch of it.
They offered everyone a certain amount and you could take it or leave it. No negotiations allowed.
I stayed until about half my hood was torn down and couldn't deal with the dust, noise, and the knowledge that it was inevitable.
It sucked because it was where my kids grew up and where we weathered out the blizzard of 78 for 2 solid weeks trapped in the tiny house with each other.
It must be horrible for someone of her age.
Blow everything out of proportion and make the old lady look crazy. Then take her home and leave her with people thinking she has a mental problem. Big business---don'tcha just love it?
When I was child and the Dodgers came to LA, they built the stadium in Chavez Ravine and the same thing happened. More recently Donald Trump went up against a little old lady in Atlantic City who had a property between his 2 casinos.
The sherriff gets all the money for all sherriff sales. So, duh. Of course he wants her house! This reminded me of the 93 y.o. Woman that stood her ground in Atlantic city against Donald Trump. She kept him away tho. He built Trump Tower right on top of her and she never gave up. Same scenerio. Her husband had died. It was her home for a million yrs and she refused to sell. It's now listed at millions. She moved in with one of her kids. Cuz she was old, not because she gave up. And Karma...Trump Towers is about to fold up and leave town. Which doesn't help her property value. But I kinda think she doesn't care either. 100 y.o ppl don't care, they just want to be left alone. Cops are the most corrupt gangs in this country. F all of them. Firemen? They are my heroes. But F all cops.
That's terribly, terribly sad. Poor old thing. We used to show respect for old people once.
