Guess what I learned to play last night?

I learned The Dead's 'Truckin'. Not impressed, right? It's fun as hail, but, easy. Okay, I also learned Monty Python's 'Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life'. Still not impessed? I wouldn't be either. Another fun, but, terribly easy one. But, wait..I also mastered Redbone's 'Come And Get Your Love'. I know! It's amazing and it was fucking hard for some reason. The chords and lyrics don't go where you think they will and your brain has to wake up. It really challenged me. I can't play that bass/lead hook..yet. But, that's okay, the lyrics are a hook too and it sounds great on an acoustic. I love this song and this band. Do you remember them?

How nice your such a talent. I'm familiar but I don't think I was paying attention on release date. It's just one of those songs that has longevity. What year is this?

I never said I have an ounce of talent..I just play it and no one can stop me. I get joyous with no fucks to give.

Wiki says 1974. I was busy with a toddler then. Never went out and all I had was a radio. I did manage to buy the album though. It was great. They have a song called 'Maggie' that's worth looking up, if you like this one.

I always liked that song. I don't know why it surprised me, but I recently heard that they were one of the only Native American bands of at least that era.
I also like Always look on the bright side. Funny movie, cool song.

I heard not long ago on a doc on death and rituals, that The Bright Side was one of the most requested funeral songs. I never thought about it before, but I think I would like that---but I really don't want a funeral---no sorrows, no regrets. Just the end.

I remember them! My older by 2 years sisterhad the 45. Then when she attended Grad Night at,Disneyland, Redbone was the big name band playing at the Tomorrowland stage. That was in 1978.

I had Redbone:Potlatch and liked all the cuts. I liked the album cover too - good looking guys with nice voices!
I didn't know how popular they were in the US but always thought they might be Canadian.

Do you remember Bruce Miller? (not the famous musician who works on sitcoms, but a mildly country/folk singer). I think he was from Seattle and I had an album of his around the same time I had Potluck.
I just now found the album I used to have on youtube. I had searched many times whenever I had a craving to hear it again, but this is the first time I've found it. Here's the link

I also like Ray Materick, same vintage and I think he still performs in pubs. Love this stuff, love good music posts

Christina and Jane, I took a stupid FB quiz that said which song should play at your funeral, looked it up and cracked up. I love the line "remember that the last laugh..is on youuuuu!" I put it on my funeral song list. Yep, I have one.

Bruce is hard to find, but, I have his album, 'Rude Awakening' on now. It's mellow and nice, so far. I like it.
