Rest In Peace. Lesley Gore, age 68

I loved Lesley, and so does every one I know. How many times have you found a reason to sing 'It's My Party and I'll Cry If I Want To!!'

Pick your Poison, Lesley had a lot of them...

'It's My Party!' (She recorded this one at age 16.)

'Judy's Turn To Cry'

'Sunshine, Lollipops And Rainbows'

'She's A Fool'

'California Nights'

'That's The Way Boys Are'

And of course, the song that still plays as an anthem to feminism..

'You Don't Own Me'

You know me and I never loved or even slightly cared about Lesley Gore.

Then you can go cry at your party, mister. It's Melvin's turn to cry, that's the way boys are.

Damn, another oldie but goodie. Now I will have Judy's Turn to Cry stuck in my head all day.

That top picture, she looks like Roger Daltrey in drag.

Some of the songs will be with me forever, however long that lasts. Too bad, appreciated the music.

I used to play California Nights so loud and on repeat that my now 60 year old brother (who nearly lost his mind over that song) still knows the words. I was just crazy about Lesley Gore.

All of these singers from this time must have started as teens. Cuz dayum, when they die, they aren't even old. And lots of them have been passing. She was great, for her time. She must have been a really young teen tho. Loved her songs. Still do.
