Baby girl survives car wreck, but, who, exactly, saved her?
SOURCE
Lynn Groesbeck was killed when her car struck a cement barrier on a bridge and plunged into the water upside down, but, her baby girl, Lily, survived. In an incredible event, the baby dangled upside down in her car seat, her head just out of reach of the freezing water flowing through the car below her. She was suspended there for 14 long hours, wearing no winter gear. The car could not be seen from the road.
Lynn and Lily were reported missing and rescuers began a search. They finally found the car and Lynn's body, but, incredibly, her baby girl was alive. Cold, hungry, tired and probably frightened beyond belief, but, alive. I had read this story in the news as most of you probably did. But, what I didn't read, until today, was how they found the car.
In the article I read, it said that the rescuers had heard a voice calling, help. That's it. I thought to myself, can a baby that young (18 months) know the word 'help' and use it correctly? I supposed it was possible, but, knowing babies, I thought it was strange. Now I find out, it wasn't a baby's voice the rescuers heard pleading for help. They all swear it was a soft WOMAN's voice. But, Lynn died instantly, they know this. There was no other woman there.
'For two nights I've laid awake trying to figure out exactly what it could be. All I know is it was there, we all heard it,' Spanish Fork Police Officer Tyler Beddoes said. 'It was extra motivation.'
Who else could it have been, but, Lily's mother? Baby Lily is doing well, she is expected to make a full recovery.

This is a testament for car seat safety. Good for the momma. But dangling upside down? For that long? I would be worried about neck, chest and brain injuries. Thankfully, that doesn't seem to be the case. She is a doll baby. The cops, in interview did seem to still be in shock and had no explanation. I think this will stay with them, forever. Will the baby remember anything? Like Baby Jessica stuck in that small pipe for days. How much can a baby remember? Even if they don't realize they do remember. Good story.
Way OT: (My comment is above) But did anybody else get their "Empire" soundtrack rip today? I die. Courtney Love's song "Walk Out On Me" is amazing. All of the songs are hits. I am loving this soundtrack. So many fab voices. If you're not watching "Empire", you are missing out on the best thing since the original "Dallas" or "Dynasty". Plus, great music. Sorry, didn't mean to hijack this post. But had to say. *Peace*
It might have been the mom, like an angel helping her baby. I would like to think so...
It was the mom. She loved her baby enough to hang around and call for help, to save her. When I say that she loved her enough to hang around, what I am referring to is that there have been accounts of people who have died briefly, and that once they are out of their bodies, they seem not to have any connection to those around them. At least in some of the accounts I have read. This mom had such a strong connection to her baby, that she flew in the face of that disconnect, and stayed with her baby, even calling out.
For me, the picture you have up there is perfect for illustrating the flat eyes of someone who is dead, versus the full eyes of someone who is living. That's quite a contrast.

I would thing dangling upside down would be horrible. But, the kid suffered no serious injuries, they said.
Yes, I believe it was her mom, Lynn, who was with her. She held on for that baby. Christina, the eyes..OMG..I didn't notice that. You're right.
OT, I tried to put Coutney's new song on here, but, the damn vid wouldn't post. Isn't it a great rendition of that song?? I loved it.
I noticed there was something about the way the mom looked in the picture, but thanks for pointing that out! I couldn't quite decide what it was.
Was anything said about a dad. Is there someone to care for the baby. I saw it on the news but didn't here anything about a family.
