When it's 3 am, you can't sleep, the kid has no school in the morning and you want, so badly, to get out your guitar, let down your hair and be Courtney Love or Cher or Bonnie Raitt or Ami Mann in your damn nightgown...but, you can't because you'll wake the chickens up. This here farmin' is a tough life, I tell ya.
Thery're up!!!
Good morning, Sunny and Cher! Care to stretch your wings?
There you go! Sunny, careful there, you know you go plop a lot more than Cher, who's more aerodynamic. (That's a nice way to tell Sunny, she's fat.) Where ya goin' Cher? Back to bed?
Awww, don't you girls look sweet this morning? Which one is bigger? LMAO!
You stop lookin' at me like that. It makes me nervous. You've been told about the pecking too, you wanna time out, Missy?
This is not as bad as it looks. He just likes to lay on the floor and look at them. He can't help it if he looks evil as shit all the fucking time. He's Indie, they are still alive, what more do you want from him?
Fly, Cher, fly like the wind! Okay, then just hop off.
I am so glad I found my camera. Indie had it hidden in his den of sin behind the couch. I should have looked there first.

Awwww...... I want!
Nope ya don't. They used to be easy and not smelly. Now, they shit constantly. It smells AWFUL. They also spoil their water constantly and they scream for attention every waking moment. They get it too. They are fun though. We take them outside and they crack us up. Today it's raining. Oh boy. Stinky stank. Cleaning poo every 5 min.
Mine didn't smell that bad. I am not sure what is up with that. We kept maybe 6 or so inside in too small a pen for a long time, because my husband just couldn't get around to building the coop/tool shed and run. It was very dusty, but we made it work. I am glad you have two. They really are flock animals, and do best with company.
They do trample through their food, and knock the water over, or mess stuff up, though. That is just part of the joy of chicken keeping. :)

Adorable! Indie looks just like my Vivi.
What are your plans for these chickens?
Christina, I have been feeding them the medicated feed, plus all the stuff you suggested. (The fav food is grapes and funnier than hell). I also let them forage a bit outside or bring them some, like today when it's cold and rainy. Dandylion, lambs quarter, clover, violets, chick weed, grass. But, they eat and poo all day. Now some is solid and no biggie. But, some is a liquidish muddy mess that gags me and peels paint. They seem delighted when they do it. OMFG! What is up with that? I had to go find the old diaper genie. I change them constantly! What am I doing wrong?
Thanks anon.
Frim, plans for them? I don't think I'll be starting a college fund. Other than that, they're family.
The horrifying dark reddish brown stuff is cecal matter and they just do that periodically. Totally normal, but awful looking and smelling stuff.
I think you are doing everything right. If you are actually feeding them grapes, chopping them up is a good idea as they can choke easily. But, I am sure you know that.
Did you know that down under, they often refer to them as "chooks?
Is the guy close to done with the coop? I hope he is so you will at least be able to have them out during the day. That will make a real difference.

Poor me. I'll never be able to have chickens. Such a delight, but any kind of bird with the runs is gag inducing, and I'm pretty stalwart about it.
I know of a guy that lived in an RV with his pet chickens. He sews colorful diapers for them. I think he may offer a pattern.
Christina, good to know. About the poo, gawd, it's yucky. So, far they haven't gotten me yet. They sit on me constantly.
Border, they're funny. I laugh all the time.
CatsPaw, you gotta be kidding! About all of it! OMG!
