I'm home and glad to be. I had never been to London in the Spring. It's the best. The weather was perfect. Cool to chilly and no ran. The plants were in their glory and I have never seen so many flowering trees. The only down side was that it was also the time all the schools had there day trips and tours. It was really impossible to get into the museums. But I did OK. I finally got to go to Stonehenge and Bathe. (Johnny Depp and Matt Damon live in Bathe---didn't see them but I looked.) I had to go alone because my sister had been to all the sightseeing places. (She goes often.) But it was cool, I did well by myself. We don't always agree on where to go and what to do, so I spent a few days by myself. I've made two major discoveries. I'm too old and out of shape for London. Those stairs to the tube are a bitch. And I think I have a hernia. Damn suitcase was way too heavy. First and only time I've ever used my handicap card for help. The back and hips just played out.
Visited with some relatives in Atlanta on the way back. We went to an auction and I got a still print of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I also got my son a Goodfellas print.
Came home and my babies (THE CATS) totally ignored me. Seems they have been hanging out with my neighbor. And the neighbor's cat has been living in my house. Go figure.
Sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope something can be done for you. I get the part about not wanting surgery. I'm the same. Good Luck!
I've been a lot of places alone. I'd like company sometimes and found it when I'd figure out where the tourist shuttles let people out to shop. Then I'd go talk to the husbands. Nice men, all ages.
That is the hell of it all, the trouble with moving around. Pain limits your life, inhibits your fun, and my eyesight is not so good. Macular degeneration. Good enough to pass a driving test without glasses but if I read I have to use the computer and make the print really large. Forget about me driving on the wrong side of the car on the wrong side of the road.
I love Van Gogh. Really enjoyed his museum in Amsterdam and even the movie with Kirk Douglas who did a good job. It isn't one I see very often on TV. Almost never.
Good museums in So. Calif, none really local. Nothing is ever local. Went about 5 blocks yesterday and huge traffic jam. Forget it. I'll just keep driving Mikey to his events, that's about it. I was supposed to get sku numbers of stuff for the house, shit I couldn't see the sku numbers. I was done for today. Some damned retailer is deducting $89 in April and May from my account for no product, so spent a LONG time on the phone today. Old card gone, new one coming, complaint filed.
Check his waitress's pocket for the ears, Christina. I think that's his idea of a tip.
Jane, Gawd, you have no idea how jealous I am of you. London is my dream destination. Sorry about your back and hip pain, but, it would be worth it. I wonder if I would have been able to find my way around alone, like you did? Well, at least if you ask directions, people speak English. :)
Border, Yeah, pain is a bitch and limits everything. You're like me, you find ways around it as long as you can. You just keep truckin'. I like to spend time alone too. I invemt ways to do things I used to do so easily, without thinking. It's a drag. I need a handicap card, I keep forgetting to ask my doctor. I have never seen that movie! I have to look it up now. Douglas played Vincent? That doesn't sound right, but, he is an actor, so I guess he could.
I just thought that this was a picture, but later I saw this on the news, and the guy really does look like him all the time, not just in a still shot or two. He had a very wicked cool sense of humor about it, as well. Christina
