Happy and safe 4th

Happy 4th of July! Lis missed the parade with Casey J, because she couldn't get up. She'd stayed up all night. Well, it's a heartbreak not to be able to throw candy to a crowd from the back of a truck, but, I guess she'll get over it. I am not looking forward to the drunken shenanigans around here and I hope no one blows any fingers off, like last year. The animals are already freaked out by the illegal fireworks going off. They too, will get over it. I feel bad for them though. We'll probably go to the next town over and watch the show with Alex's parents, like last year. Their driveway is much more fun for me than the actual fair grounds. I hope you guys all have a good time, good food and peace. Oh, and be safe.

BTW, just for the hell of it, I would like to say, that, I do not understand why anyone would put Peas in Guacamole. Only because Peas and Avacados taste like the same thing to me. I like them both, but, to someone like me it's like suggesting you add Potato salad to your Potato salad. Which, if you ask me, ALL taste good. Any kind tastes good. German, grannys, mustard, hot, cold...I don't care. They're all good. Unless they have Capers. Capers are evil tiny Demon poop.

Oh, that is a bummer to miss the chance to be in a parade throwing candy. Oh well, maybe next year. Consequences suck.
I have never heard of anyone putting peas into guacamole. That sounds weird and disgusting. I like peas, and like guacamole, but it is just wrong to mix them. Who does that?
This year, Andy and his girlfriend are going to set off all of George's leftover fireworks. I will be so happy to have them gone!!! They have been sitting here and there on the front porch since last year (you may all bow deeply to my white trashiness) and the little doggie has been trying to eat them, though I know they can not taste like anything but ass. These are all legal, non-flying type fireworks for Oregon, and I just confirmed with the fire department that they can be used. It is so dry in a lot of places that I couldn't be sure without checking.
Andy has been refusing to have an air conditioner in his room, but yesterday he looked like he was dying. I have tried to find one this morning, but there are none available anywhere, of course. Bummer.
It has been so hot that I lost the last 8 or so of the tadpoles. They just couldn't take the heat. Very sad.
I had a wonderful day at the beach yesterday. It was nice and sunny, and warm, and there were crowds on the beach, but not in my favorite restaurant, or in the shops I visited. I went in the water, (only above my knees) and it was so cold it made the tops of my feet hurt. I got out and warmed up and went back in. Lovely.
The two day trips I have taken to Seaside in the past week have been the only times I have been happy in the past year or so. Now I know what that feels like again.
Well, I am off to get ready and go shopping for the same things everyone else will be looking for. Watermelon, potato salad, coleslaw, etc. Wish me luck.

My sister and I buried two baby birds today, we found them last night when it west raining, couldn't do anything with them then. Plus it's also my dad birthday. Got him BBQ sauce, made some brownies, and a tube of a yard of popcorn!

So yea, the day has been interesting.

Happy 4th of July. We got the Calgary Stampede going on up here. That blocks the view of anything happening anywhere else.

Can I come and visit, Christina? My SIL passed away a couple of years ago and I have no more excuse to go. Not to stay with anybody, just visit. I had a few hundred boxes delivered the same day a friend in WI had a package delivered to me. Good luck with that. If it's here it's indistinguishable from all the boxes the warehouse delivered.

I got some calming oils for Mikey to see if he will settle down with the noise. My neighbor called and asked me for a coupon for beer, but I had already thrown out all the circulars. So dug through the trash for him. I have a taste for hot dogs and mustard and will have to go to the store myself for it. Bummer. But I will go now just for the heck of it.

People around here look for air conditioners and fans in August, and heaters in January when none are to be found. Got to learn to plan ahead for crying out loud. Is Andy your son, Christina? I want to barf evey time I think of your ex.

Happy Birthday USA. Great country, glad I live in it.

I hope everyone is having a lovely and safe 4th of July Celebration! Lissa sounds like she has the lazybones/I can't be bothered condition that Marina also suffers from. Amazing how it flicks on and off! Spent a couple of hours at an annual celebration at my Aunt and Uncles house - he is 97 yrs old and still has a brain sharp as a tack! Then went to my sisters because she has the pool! BBQ'd, kids swam, watched the Dodger game. Just a nice easy fun time. Now as it approaches 9pm - the whole neighborhood sounds like a freakin war zone! Yes fireworks are illegal in the City of L.A. - but hey what fun is it to set them off if they're legal? The worst are the seal bombs. The fishermen use them to scare seals away from their catch. Obnoxious LOUD and certainly not any fun. This nightly barrage started Memorial Day and will go on through Labor Day. I can see from my front yard the official legal pretty fireworks that are set off at the local beach. Good enough!

Christina, so glad to hear you're having some fun. It's time to say FUCK GEORGE and find some fun. I know that's easy for me to say, but you have to live it. Try to enjoy yourself more often. You deserve it.

As for peas in guacamole, I don't think I've ever seen that. But I do love hot German potato salad. I actually miss cooking sometimes---not often! I did make a meat pie for my son today. He had some deer meat he wanted to use. Now, he is a great cook and makes the best Italian tomato gravy I have ever eaten. I miss having my son with me, but we just can't live together. We get along much better living apart. We are too much alike to live together.

I hope everyone had a great 4th! Melvin, we haven't hears from you. What did you do for the 4th?

I am pretty ambivalent about this holiday. So much noise and forced interaction. I watched the fireworks from my house...it was nice.

I don't get guacamole at all. It seems really bland to me. Potato salad on the other hand, I'm a mustard version all the way. Love, love, love it.

Sure, Border!! Come visit!
You are totally welcome at my white trash party!! I have to warn you, though. I have two dogs, one of which is 110 pounds, overly affectionate and drools, and the other one is high energy, jumps a lot, and will cry if you don't play with her when she thinks you should. I have an assortment of picnic food, which no-one ate yesterday, (just for the record, deviled egg potato salad is my favorite), and also an assortment of alcohol. I have beer, hard cider, Seagrams whatever flavors, champagne and wine.
I can not promise I will smell good, though. I just worked up a sweat after church. My son and his girlfriend set off a lot of George's leftover fireworks last night, and when I told him he needed to clean up his mess in the street, he must have thought I only meant the big chunks. Little sparkler sticks, smoke and crackle bomb plastic pieces and leftover firecracker bits and pieces everywhere. I just cleaned it up, and at 10 am, it's got to be about 90ish already, in the sun. I have a very unladylike sweat going.
I do have some nice plastic, fake adirondack lawn chairs in a very fetching color called "well water" that we can sit in and gossip about the neighbors, and any unlucky folks we happen to see in the cemetery. Angus may disturb us with his crowing, but relief is only a hose away, if you know what I mean.
So, when shall I expect you? Oh, and what about Pat? And Jane? Pat, you should bring Lissa and Casey. I have lots of craft stuff and scrapbooking stuff, too. We could have a lot of fun!!!!
Party starts in 3 . .2 . . 1. .

I spent last night with Smokey Robinson, who made love with his voice to a crowd of 18,000 people at the Hollywood Bowl. Phenomenal. And the fireworks show following Smokey's AMAZING performance was the icing on the cupcake. Perfect evening.

Hope everyone had a safe 4th!

Christina, sounds like a plan. I'll bring the guacamole/pea dip. With enough liquor, we won't even see the peas. It's got to be cooler there than it is here. The sun is bouncing off the water in my yard----lovely humidity!

I decided I was too white and since I don't do sun, I bought some of those tanning towels. Now I'm going to be orange. I'm going to look like a "punkin"!
