Curious about what is true hoarding

HERE's an article about why someone hates themself for watching hoarder shows. The curious part to me was that they used that photo. Is that hoarding? Was that on a hoarding show? I must have missed something because that just looks like a regular mess to me. You know, like when you're cleaning big time and you pile shit here and there to sort out when you're done. I mean, look at it. There's no cockroaches, no pet poop, no spider nests. It looks like a clean mess, like it hasn't been there long. So, I'm confused. Are there really people that are horrified looking at that? Because if so, they sure shouldn't visit me. That just looks like an afternoon's work to me. Like a pot of coffee, 6 smoke breaks and a few loads of laundry. Fuck it.

I look at the appliance on the left and think, damn, that pretty much looks like my fridge right now. When I open the door to get the dog a snack and shit falls off, I know it's time to clean it. I just went through construction here and I had piles like that everywhere. I was pretty sick and it was snowing like a bitch too. What are you gonna do? Tackle one pile at a time. Storage, toss, hide it...whatever. I have one small pile in the kitchen left of stuff I haven't decided on yet, a new microwave I haven't set up and on top of it all is the cleaned paint trays and rollers. And left over paint. I'll get to it eventually. I'm tackeling the pile of construction debris outside the house now. Sneaking it into the garbage every week so I don't have to pay the $80 dollar dumpster fee. I think I can clear the last of it Monday.

Maybe I'm a hoarder and a nasty slob and I don't even know it. What do you think? Does that photo shock you or make you think maybe you have a problem too? What the fuck IS normal?

That photo just looks like controlled chaos. Why because ther is a path and you can see the sink fine. hording is when you have 50 million of the same thing. Like a certain woman I know whom has 10 of the same shoes and purses. She looses it and buys and new one than forgets and buys it again. The woman doesnt even wear flip flops and have over 2000 flops. Seriously that is hording.

Clutter is clutter, dirt is dirt.

We all collect and hold on to treasures in are life. Just some other people are obsessive with collecting and building up ther little super store.

So to me hording is hording on to one type of thing and having it over consume you. T/T not talking about mr green men okay. LOL

I see your point ... I have been invited into houses for PTA meetings where this was about the norm through the whole house. What pissed me off was I had a pile a papers on my dining room table and my husband used to say I was "messy". I'd be thinking he needs to come to these meetings and APPRECIATE MY HOUSE CLEANING!

Guess we would have to see the rest of the house. I have seen this show many times and it seems the more extreme the better for the ratings.

My dream is to have a spotless house and yard. I never do. Usually it's not embarassing and that's the best I can do..except lately. LOL. Man, it's been bad.

When I see those perfect houses on tv, I always think, "I wonder where they hide their junk??"

my mum would see that and think it was a hoarders house.. her place is always so immaculate it's like a show home, but not very 'comfy' if you know what i mean..
